Aubameyang’s Great Performances This Season

Aubameyang has been tremendous for Arsenal this season. He is the second top scorer in the Premier League and the Gunners’ best by some margin. The Gabonese striker, who is joint captain in North London, is almost certainly their player of the year. He not only has stats to prove his quality, but he also has shown it on the pitch. The former Borussia Dortmund striker has played extremely well while also providing Arsenal with goals and without him, they would be struggling more than they already are.

Aubameyang’s performances this season have not come without reward. He has both Barcelona and Manchester United interested in his services. Both want the Gabonese striker at their club and are fighting over his signature.

Barcelona’s Interest

Barcelona were the first club to show intentions of buying Arsenal’s star striker this season. The Catalan giants want the 30-year-old for several reasons. Except for his excellent performances this campaign, Barca could lose a striker this summer.

Despite having been so impressive at Atletico Madrid, Antoine Griezmann has not lived up to those standards since joining Barca last summer. The Frenchman could be set for a speedy exit, with many clubs across Europe reigniting their interest in him. Barcelona would look for a replacement, and Aubameyang could be perfect.

Manchester United Also Looking into Him

Manchester United are also looking into the Arsenal goal-scorer. A striker is one of the positions which the Red Devils are prioritizing this summer, and with Anthony Martial’s future also in the balance, they will look into other options.

Aubameyang has emerged as one of their preferred striker targets, and although they could make Odion Ighalo’s loan move permanent, United will also look to sign the France-born striker in the summer.

Recent Transfer Boost

The Gabonese striker is a backup option for Barcelona, says the report. The La Liga leaders are cooling their interest as they open bidding for Inter Milan frontman Lautaro Martinez. Should they fail to sign the Argentinian, Barcelona would ramp up their attempts to sign Aubameyang, but as things stand, it seems that Barcelona will not pursue him as much as previously thought, and with Manchester United also eyeing other strikers like Erling Braut Håland, Arsenal could even keep their centre-forward.
