REPORT: Wolverhampton Wanderers Appeal to UEFA to Have Olympiakos Europa League Tie Postponed

Marinakis Diagnosed With Coronavirus

The main concern Wolves have over making the trip to Olympiakos is the diagnosis of their opponents’ owner. Marinakis, who is also the owner of Championship side Nottingham Forest, confirmed in a statement on his Instagram page that he had been “visited” by the virus.

This comes after he attended the Championship game between Forest and Millwall on Friday night.

According to Spiers, discussions between Wolves and UEFA around the postponement of the game are ongoing.

Wolves ‘Not Happy’ But Will Travel If Required

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo backed up the club’s stance that they were not happy to travel to the game. However, he insisted that if UEFA would not postpone it, then they would still play.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: “We have obligations. I’m an employee. If we have to go, then we will go.

“We are not happy to go. Olympiakos are suffering their own problems. It’s time to think – is there another option? Can we stop? This will eventually happen in the Premier League. Let’s think about it.

“We are living with fear. If we have to go then as a club, then we have to come back.”

If the game does not go ahead, it will be the first involving an English club to be called off due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Manchester United and Chelsea have already confirmed that their respective games against LASK and Bayern Munich will be played behind closed doors.
