Marseille’s 14 Match Unbeaten Run Comes to an End

Marseille’s sensational unbeaten in run came to an abrupt end as they were deservedly beaten by Nantes. Kader Bamba sparkled with a goal and assist to secure Nantes a first win in six and maintain Nantes excellent recent run against Marseille.

Bamba’s first contribution of the game was to put a terrific cross into the box which Anthony Limbombe headed into the net to give the visitors an excellent start. However, they were soon pegged back when Morgan Sanson equalised just five minutes later, but Nantes were soon back in their stride thanks to Bamba. The midfielder restored the visitors lead when he curled a wonderful shot into the bottom corner. Marseille were huffing and puffing in their attempts to snatch a point with Dimitri Payet and Dario Benedetto coming close, but they soon saw the game slip away when Alvaro put through his own goal.

Marseille remain second but have slipped thirteen points behind leaders PSG. Nantes climb a place to 11th after a terrific win which restores confidence in their team.

Paris Saint Germain and Bordeaux Play Out Seven Goal Thriller In The Capital

Leaders PSG held off a resilient Bordeaux to extend their lead to thirteen points at the top of the table. Brazilian defender Marquinhos was the unlikely hero as he scored a brace of goals in game dominated by set-pieces.

It was the visitors who struck first courtesy of Hwang Ui-Jo who headed Toma Basic’s teasing cross past Sergio Rico but soon PSG were level courtesy of Edinson Cavani. They soon pushed on and took the lead when Marquinhos latched onto Angel Di Maria’s cross in first-half stoppage time. However, the sides would go in level at the break as Pablo notched a fourth league goal of the season for Bordeaux.

PSG soon took the game by the scruff of the next and went 4-2 ahead thanks to Marquinhos and Kylian Mbappe. The visitors undeterred rallied in the latter stages and did set up a grandstand finish when Ruben Pardo scored his first goal for Bordeaux since arriving from Real Sociedad in January.

There was late drama but not in terms of goals as Neymar’s frustrating week was completed when he was sent off in stoppage time for two yellow cards. PSG remain top and extend their lead to thirteen points but there are some serious problems at the capital club while a spirited Bordeaux see their unbeaten run come to an end and they drop to 12th.
