The Deal

Coventry announced via their website that Jones had signed a new deal. The winger has agreed a new contract which runs until the summer of 2021. He will be hoping to overcome his injuries to play a key role between now and the end of the season.

Jones has been with Coventry since 2016 after joining from non-league side Dagenham & Redbridge. He has endured a difficult but memorable time with the Sky Blues so far, which includes promotion to League One, trips to Wembley and the heartache of relegation.

His best season was arguably 2017/18, where he played an integral role as Coventry secured promotion back to League One at the first attempt. However, for 2018/19 and all of this season, he has been blighted by two cruel anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Jones is on the road to recovery and has featured twice in cup competitions for the Sky Blues, with his first appearance coming against Milton Keynes Dons in the Leasing.com Trophy.

Jones is on the road to recovery and is currently with Coventry’s U23s building up his fitness levels and match sharpness following his injury lay-off. He is most recent appearance for the youth side saw him score twice against Colchester United’s Under 23s.

His return from injury couldn’t come at a better time for the Sky Blues, with promotion to the Championship very much in their grasp. They sit second in League One with only goal difference preventing them from being top. Jones brings pace, attacking threat and goals to an already exciting Coventry side.

Mark Robins will not rush his recovery but certainly, he could play a key role in the rest of Coventry’s season if he recaptures his best form from their last promotion season.
