Borussia Dortmund Set to Sign Emre Can

The Deal

Can has fallen down the pecking order at Juventus since Maurizio Sarri’s arrival in the summer. He is looking to secure his place in Germany’s Euro 2020 squad and sees Dortmund as the perfect opportunity.

He has 25 caps for Germany, and he will hope regular game time in the Bundesliga wills secure his place in the squad.

The 26-year-old is a versatile player who can play both midfield and defence. He has predominately played in midfield for Juventus but did play in defence during his spell with Liverpool.

He began his career at Bayern Munich before moving to Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool. Can joined Juventus in 2018 but has made just 37 appearances in his eighteen months in Italy.

Can will fill the void left by Julian Weigl, who left Dortmund for Benfica at the beginning of January. He will bring a strong presence and dynamic figure in the Dortmund midfield.

Dortmund will hope to sign him in time for Saturday’s game against Union Berlin. The midfielder will be determined to help Dortmund push for the Bundesliga title. Dortmund are four points behind league leaders RB Leipzig.

Emre Can Will Hope to Establish Himself at Dortmund

Can fell down the pecking order at Juventus with competition for places extremely fierce. Juventus signed a whole host of central midfielders in the summer, including Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot.

Maurizio Sarri has barely used the German and now Can will hope to make an impact at Dortmund. Lucien Favre will be delighted to have him on board and Can will hope to establish himself at the German giants.
