Barnsley Sign Ethan Erhahon and Ali Omar

Championship strugglers Barnsley have signed midfielder Ethan Erhahon. The midfielder arrives on loan from St Mirren for the rest of the season. The Tykes have also signed young defender Ali Omar, who arrives on a deal until the end of the season.

Barnsley Sign Ethan Erhahon

The Deal

Barnsley announced via their website they had signed the midfielder. Erhahon arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.

However, he will go straight into Barnsley’s U23 side and link up with academy manager Martin Devaney. The deal is subject to international clearance.

Erhahon has been a regular for St Mirren, making 29 appearances for the Buddies. The young midfielder has also represented Scotland at various youth levels, and he is seen as a bright prospect.

It’s a blow for St Mirren but Barnsley will be delighted to have him on board. The deal will see him play with Barnsley’s development squad, but impressive performances could see first-team action.

Barnsley Also Confirm Signing of Ali Omar

As well as confirming the capture of Ethan Erhahon, Barnsley have also announced the signing of Ali Omar.

Omar is a centre-back and the 18-year-old will go straight into Barnsley’s development squad. The centre back arrives on an initial deal until the end of the season with the option to extend by a further year.

Signing Omar and Erhahon would suggest Barnsley are looking to the future. Gerhard Struber already has a young squad at Barnsley and certainly the club like to utilise their academy.

The two new recruits will hope they can make the breakthrough to the first team, while Omar will hope to earn a place beyond the summer and trigger the extra year on his contract, regardless of which division the club end up in next year.
