The Deal

Port Vale announced via their website they had signed the defender. Clark arrives on loan from Leicester for the remainder of the season.

Clark is Vale’s first January signing as the Valiants continue to push for a play-off place.

The young full-back began his career with Aston Villa but was released in the summer and eventually joined Leicester. Askey was disappointed not to a seal permanent move for Clark in the summer.

Clark has been an ever-present in Leicester’s U23s squad but has decided to return to Vale on a temporary basis. He made 45 appearances for Port Vale last season as they secured their safety in League Two.

Clark will hope to make his debut this weekend when Port Vale face Salford City.

What Was Said

Speaking to the Port Vale website about his new signing, John Askey said: “I’m really pleased to get him in.

“It gives competition in an area that we haven’t had much competition in but having said that James Gibbons has done really well for us.

“When he’s available we know with Mitch what we’re getting. It’s a good addition and if anyone gets injured or suspended then we’ve got a good replacement to come in.

“Mitch can play either side and we know from when he was with us last season he did really well and provides good cover on both sides.”
