The Deal

Nottingham Forest announced via their website they had let the keeper leave. Pantilimon joins Cyprian side AC Omonia on loan for the rest of the season.

Pantilimon brings an end to his nine-year stay in English football. The Romanian international joined Manchester City in 2011 and want on to make 29 appearances for them.

He then joined Sunderland in 2014 making 49 appearances across two years with the Wearsiders. Watford was his next destination, but he only made a handful of appearances for the Hornets.

Loan spells at Deportivo La Coruna and Nottingham Forest followed before joining the Reds permanently. Pantilimon was a regular for Forest last season but has not featured under current manager Sabri Lamouchi. The decorated keeper departs after a good spell in the English game.

The keeper has been capped 27 times by his country and is ready to seek a new challenge after being frozen out at Forest.

Pantilimon joins the Cyprian first division side for the remainder of the campaign as he looks for some much-needed game time.

Sabri Lamouchi Continues to Trim the Forest Squad

The Forest manager inherited a huge squad in the summer and slowly but surely, he is trimming the squad down.

Pantilimon follows many of the Forest deadwood out of the club. Claudio Yacob departed after not featuring for over 10 months. Others could follow in what remains of the transfer window. The keeper is next to leave having not featured this season.

Forest want to add a couple more players before tomorrow’s deadline and a couple may depart too as Lamouchi fine-tunes his promotion hunting team.
