Cambridge Sign Striker Victor Adeboyejo On Loan

The Deal

Cambridge announced via their website they had signed the striker. Adeboyejo arrives on loan from Barnsley for the remainder of the season.

The striker arrives after spending the first half of the season at Bristol Rovers. He made 30 appearances for the Gas scoring just one league goal.

The 22-year-old started his career at Leyton Orient and made a positive impression at various non-league clubs before joining Barnsley in 2017.

Adeboyejo was part of the Barnsley team which won promotion to the Championship last season. However, his parent club feels a full season of football is what he needs to develop going forward.

He made a good impression at Bristol Rovers even if goals weren’t flowing. The striker brings pace and creativity and certainly Cambridge will be thankful to have him on board.

He is also a versatile player meaning Colin Calderwood can utilise him on the flanks and central areas.

The Barnsley loanee could make his debut in Cambridge’s game against Morecambe this weekend.

What Was Said

Speaking about his new signing, manager Colin Calderwood said: “He’s got strong physicality, he’s instinctive with the type of goals he scores and he’s got more than enough work rate, effort, energy and knowledge about the game to help the team”.

Adeboyejo Brings Pace to The Cambridge Attack

The young forward will certainly bring some much-needed pace to the Cambridge attack. Calderwood’s side are very direct and rely on pace on the flanks.

Adeboyejo brings pace, creativity and endeavour. However, he needs to improve his end product with goals eluding him at Bristol Rovers. Just two goals in all competitions.

However, Colin Calderwood will believe Adeboyejo can help the U’s secure a top-half finish and score a few goals along the way.
