Attacking Midfielder

The 21-year-old will prove a versatile addition for Ian Holloway, as he can play on either wing, as operating as a number ten in midfield.

Tilley is relatively inexperienced, having been restricted to U23 football for much of his career. He made just three appearances for Brighton during his time at the Amex Stadium.

However, he enjoyed his first spell away from the Seagulls during the first half of this season, joining Yeovil Town on loan. Tilley made 21 appearances in all competitions for the National League side.

What Was Said

Speaking about his new signing to the Grimsby Town website, Hollway said: “I think he is a wonderful footballer, all the due diligence I have done on him, he is a wonderfully hard-working young man so he will fit in with us a treat and our boys.

“I think he is worthy of wearing our shirt and he will bring something different to the table.

“He is willing to learn, he has made a massive commitment to us already with the change in his salary, taking a lot less than he was on.

“He has committed to us for another 18 months and then an additional year in our favour which is absolutely commendable, I can’t wait to get my grubby little mits on him and get him doing some of the stuff that I was doing with Blackpool.”

Tilley will be available for Grimsby’s next game against Exeter City.

The Mariners are currently unbeaten since Ian Holloway took over as manager, with two wins and one draw. However, it could have been three wins from three if it was not for a late Leyton Orient equaliser in their last game.
