What Was Said

Salford announced via their website they had signed the experienced frontman. The striker arrives on a free transfer, agreeing a two-and-half-year deal at the Peninsula Stadium.

He is Graham Alexander’s second January signing after Ashley Hunter arrived earlier in the window.

Speaking after completing his move, Elliott said: “I wanted to be part of something special.”

Graham Alexander added: “We feel he can add great value to our team”

Millwall Released the Striker Earlier Today

Tom Elliott arrives from Championship Millwall who had confirmed earlier in the day they had released the striker from his contract.

In a statement on their website, Millwall said: “Millwall Football Club can announce that Tom Elliott has been released from his contract at The Den.

“The striker is now set to sign for Sky Bet League Two club Salford City.

“Elliott joined The Lions in the summer of 2017 and scored three goals in his first four appearances, playing 28 times as the club defied all expectations to finish eighth in their first season back in the Sky Bet Championship.

“Three goals in the 2018/19 campaign assisted Millwall in remaining in the second tier, however, Elliott has been restricted to just one start this season, at Oxford United in the Carabao Cup.

“The club would like to thank Tom for his service during his time at Millwall.”

A Proven Striker in League Two

Graham Alexander will be hoping his new striker can push Salford towards the League Two play-off places. Inconsistencies have meant Salford have been stuck in mid-table for much of the season.

Elliott knows how to score and win promotion in League Two, having helped AFC Wimbledon to promotion in 2017. The striker will be confident he can help Salford get into the promotion race.
