‘Confident’ Of Striking A Deal

The hierarchy at Manchester United are reportedly confident that they can strike a deal for 23-year-old Maddison next summer.

Maddison is one of the most highly-rated talents in Europe and is popular at his current club Leicester City.

Since moving to the Foxes in the summer of 2018, the 23-year-old has become an instrumental part of their side. Last season registering seven goals in 38 appearances for Leicester, while also laying on seven for his team-mates. However, he has already surpassed last season’s goal tally.

As a result, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to keep one of his key players. They have reportedly already begun negotiations over a new contract, although progress is yet to be made.

Manchester United Are Keen To Add James Maddison To Their Midfield

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is constantly looking for reinforcements at Old Trafford. One of those positions they are looking to add to is the midfield, with James Maddison being their preferred target.

Midfield is certainly a position where United are lacking consistency and creativity. Andreas Pereira and Paul Pogba have the most assists from the centre of midfield with just two all season. The latter has missed a large proportion of the season so far through injury.

Furthermore, Scott McTominay is the only midfielder that comes close to Maddison’s passing stats so far this season. The Leicester midfielder averages 84% of passes completed per game, with an average of 2.4 key passes per game. Meanwhile, his United counterpart averages 78.8% and 0.9 per game for the same statistics.

As a result, it shows that James Maddison would be a useful addition at Manchester United. However, United will have to work hard to strike a deal.
