Transfer Rumours: Nathan Ake, Dwight McNeil, Asmir Begovic and More

transfer rumours

Welcome to our latest round-up of the ongoing transfer rumours. In this edition, we’ll take a closer look at Chelsea, who appear to be in the market for one of their former players, as well as Crystal Palace’s interest in a young English talent.

Latest Transfer Rumours

Ake Could Return to Chelsea

Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake could be on his way back to Chelsea. However, it all depends on the fitness of German defender Antonio Rudiger, according to Matt Law of the Telegraph.

The Blues sold Ake to Bournemouth for £20 million in 2017, but despite the Dutchman being valued at around £70 million, Chelsea believe they can re-sign their former talent for a discount price of £40 million.

Ake pulled up during Saturday’s defeat to Liverpool and manager Eddie Howe admitted “it looked quite serious” in his post-match comments, so the Blues may consider waiting to hear the latest on the hamstring problem before pursuing a deal further.

Palace Want McNeil if Zaha Leaves

According to Alan Nixon of the Sun, Crystal Palace have put Burnley ace Dwight McNeil top of their wishlist if Wilfried Zaha leaves.

Zaha has been linked with a move to Chelsea in the upcoming January transfer window but Roy Hodgson’s side have earmarked the England U21 international as the ideal replacement for their Ivorian star.

Palace are expected to hold out for a big fee if they are going to allow Zaha to leave, so it’s likely a move for McNeil will only materialise if one of the big teams are willing to pay the fee for Palace’s number 11.

Nixon claims that Burnley’s asking price for McNeil would be around £20 million, which would leave Palace with more than enough to improve in other positions as well with the money they would make from Zaha’s sale.

Liverpool Latest Transfer Rumours

Premier League leaders Liverpool are keen to bring in Brazilian starlet Evanilson, according to Alan Scott of the Sun, via Brazilian outlet Netflu.

The 20-year-old Fluminese striker will be available on a free transfer in February, but Jurgen Klopp could offer up to £4 million in order to seal the deal early.

The Reds’ front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, as well as back-up Divock Origi, are all in scintillating form. Therefore, Evanilson won’t be expected to break into the team straight away.

However, Klopp sees the youngster as a star for the future.

West Ham Looking to End Goalkeeper Crisis

West Ham United are looking to bring in Bournemouth’s out-of-favour goalkeeper Asmir Begovic in January, according to the Sun’s Dan King. The Bosnian goalkeeper is currently on loan to Azerbaijani side FK Qarabag, but the deal expires at the end of this month.

The Hammers have been forced to use both of their back-up goalkeepers, Roberto and David Martin, this season due to an injury to Lukasz Fabianski. However, it’s been reported that they want rid of Roberto already after a spell of calamitous performances, which saw Martin brought in for the matches against Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Begovic has plenty of Premier League experience with both the Cherries, Chelsea and Stoke City, but found himself behind Aaron Ramsdale, Artur Boruc and Mark Travers in the pecking order after some poor displays.

Derby County, Birmingham City and PSV Eindhoven are also thought to be monitoring Begovic.
