Ligue 1 Predictions: Five Star Brest Thrash Strasbourg

Ligue 1 predictions

Another pulsating round of Ligue 1 matches has come to an end, with plenty of talking points and exciting action. Paris Saint-Germain maintained their five-point lead, Marseille collected a fifth straight league win and there were huge wins for Brest and Bordeaux. Here’s the results of our latest set of Ligue 1 predictions.

Ligue 1 Predictions: Brest Thrash Strasbourg

Cristian Battocchio the Unlikely Hat-Trick Hero

Brest ended their winless streak in style by putting five past Strasbourg. Olivier Dall’oglio’s team were outstanding as they collected a first win in five games. Italian magician Cristian Battocchio was the unlikely hero, netting a hat-trick.

It was a huge disappointment for Strasbourg, whose improved run of results and performances have dwindled. That is back-to-back defeats for them and they struggled in this game too.

Alexandre Mendy opened the scoring before Battocchio took over. The Italian midfielder scored his first career hat-trick in the space of 30 minutes. Ferris N’Goma notched his first of the season in stoppage time from the penalty spot. It was a crucial win for Brest who certainly needed a spark to reignite their season.

Bordeaux Put Six Past Nimes

Despite the off-field protests during the game, Paulo Sousa’s Bordeaux kept their concentration and put six past struggling Nimes. The game was halted after the opening ten minutes as Bordeaux ultras stormed the pitch to protest at the club’s owners.

When the game did resume, Bordeaux were on top form. A hat-trick from former Sunderland striker Josh Maja helped them on their way. The England youth international completed a 29-minute hat-trick to give Bordeaux a three-goal advantage. Nicolas De Preville added a fourth before Brazilian midfielder Otavio scored a brace to complete the scoring.

It was a tremendous win for Bordeaux whose unbeaten run extends to five games. A shell-shocked Nimes were well beaten and the pressure is mounting on Bernard Blaquart.
