Roy Hodgson Needs to Get Crystal Palace Back on Track at Burnley

Roy Hodgson

After a tough run of fixtures, it is unsurprising that Crystal Palace have collected just one point from their last five games. However, Roy Hodgson takes his side to Burnley next, in need of three points to help get them back on track.

Continue on From Liverpool

Despite the defeat, Palace were praised for their performance against league leaders Liverpool. It was a contrast to their previous two defeats, where they sat back and endured the pressure, which lead to an inevitable defeat.

Instead, the Eagles swooped in against the Liverpool defence and utilised the pace and trickery of wingers Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha. As a result, it lead to Palace having an impressive 16 shots at the Reds’ goal, six of which were on target.

Up against Burnley, this needs to continue. The visitors have always been recognised for their counter-attack away from Selhurst Park, and none more so than on their last trip to Turf Moor. They continuously hit Burnley on the counter-attack and drew their full-backs wide. Roy Hodgson needs to initiate the same tactics again this weekend

Tough and Tenacious, Burnley are Not an Easy Side to Face

Under Sean Dyche, Burnley have turned into a tough and tenacious side. They are difficult opponents for anyone, and Dyche will not change his mantra for the Eagles.

Burnley’s tough reputation lies within their forwards. Chris Wood, standing at 6’3″, and Ashley Barnes at 6’1″, are aggressive. They hang on the shoulder of centre-backs, waiting for crosses into the box. While route one football may not be the fashion in the modern game, it certainly works for Sean Dyche’s Burnley.
