Transfer Rumours: Jadon Sancho, Willian and Olivier Giroud

Jadon Sancho

Welcome to the latest instalment of Last Word On Football’s round-up of the latest transfer rumours. In this edition, we take a look at the rumours linking Jadon Sancho to the current Premier League leaders, and the future of two Chelsea forwards.

Latest Transfer Rumours

Liverpool Join Jadon Sancho Race

Liverpool are the latest side to join the race for England and Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, according to Mail Online’s Adrian Kajumba and Sami Mokbel.

The pair report that Sancho wants to leave Dortmund, who he joined from Manchester City in 2017 after his future became increasingly unclear – Dortmund were reportedly planning his exit and were already eyeing up replacements.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are the current champions of Europe and lead the way in the Premier League having not lost so far this season. If they really are to go to the next level, a signing of Sancho’s stature has to be a must. However, they must fight off competition from Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Transfer Rumours: Willian Latest

According to Darren Lewis of the Mirror, both Juventus and Barcelona are keen on taking Willian from Chelsea – but Blues boss Frank Lampard would prefer to keep him.

The Brazillian’s contract with Chelsea runs out at the end of the season, and both interested parties would like to agree a pre-contract with Willian. The Blues, then, must act fast if he is to stick around.

Even if Willian’s playing time is to decrease at Chelsea, he still serves as a perfect example to youngsters Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic with his experience, having won Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League since signing from Anzhi Makhachkala.

Antonio Conte Wants Olivier Giroud Reunion

The Daily Express’ Rhys Noye-Allen reports that Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte wants to bring Olivier Giroud to the club, reuniting the pair after their spell together at Chelsea.

Like Willian, Giroud’s contract is set to expire at the end of this season, so he could be available to Inter on a pre-contract unless Chelsea act fast to secure a new deal. Given his playing time in West London though, this seems unlikely.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the reason Inter are after Giroud is that they are willing to allow Matteo Politano to leave the club in the upcoming January window.
