Chichester City

Chichester City to Visit Either Tranmere Rovers or Wycombe Wanderers in FA Cup Second Round

The FA Cup’s lowest-ranked remaining side, Chichester City, have been handed a League One tie in their round two game. Chichester were handed the bye in round one after Bury’s removal from the competition and will face either Tranmere Rovers or Wycombe Wanderers depending on the outcome of their replay.

FA Cup Second Round Draw

Tranmere Rovers or Wycombe Wanderers v Chichester City

Chichester’s advancement into the second round may have been by way of a bye, an unusual way to get through in the FA Cup, but they wouldn’t have cared one jot, and now they have a huge reward for that luck they received in the draw.

The Isthmian League South East Division side have played county football for large periods of their history, so having this enormous test away at a Football League side will not only give them a huge payday, something that non-league clubs often crave in these stages of the competition, but it will also serve as a good indicator of how far they have come as a club.

Maldon & Tiptree v Grimsby Town or Newport County

Maldon & Tiptree produced arguably the shock of the round last time out as they beat League Two side Leyton Orient 2-1 away from home. The Jammers even held a 2-0 lead briefly before James Dayton halved the deficit to make it a nervy finish.

Many would have expected Maldon to go out at that stage, playing a league club away from home, so it will be interesting to see how they fare with a home tie. Both Grimsby and Newport are going fairly well in League Two, and the latter have cup pedigree of their own with a home draw over Tottenham Hotspur and a win over Leicester City in recent years.
