Callum Hudson-Odoi Signs New Chelsea Contract

Chelsea have confirmed that teenage sensation Callum Hudson-Odoi has signed a five-year contract extension with the club. The 18-year-old earned a place in the side last year under Maurizio Sarri and became the club’s youngest ever England international when he featured against the Czech Republic at Wembley.

New Deal Ends Foreign Interest

Rumours and reports linking Hudson-Odoi with a move to Bundesliga side Bayern Munich were rife throughout the summer. The German giants felt as though they could swoop for the youngster as, despite breaking into the side, he was still not featuring regularly in the Premier League – mostly being used in Chelsea’s successful Europa League campaign.

The Blues have been well known in recent years for failing to give youth players a chance in the first team, despite their vast pool of talent in the youth set-up. However, with a transfer ban now preventing them from bringing in new players to use instead of the youngsters, this is a perfect time for players like Hudson-Odoi to truly make their mark.

Although currently out injured, it’s easy to see how Callum Hudson-Odoi could fit seamlessly into Frank Lampard’s plans when he returns. Chelsea have already given appearances to Reece James, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham (the latter three having found the net this campaign too) and once Hudson-Odoi’s injury concerns are put to rest, he will no doubt join that quartet in becoming the most important factors of this new-look Chelsea side.

What Was Said

Speaking to the club’s website, Hudson-Odoi said: “It’s an amazing feeling. It’s been a long wait but it’s done now and I’m really happy about that. I’ve been a Chelsea player since I was eight and this is the right club for me to be at.

“I want to lift as many trophies as possible, win as many games as possible and contribute to as many goals as I can as well. As a team, we just want to work hard to achieve the best results we can. I’m delighted everything has been agreed and now I’m just looking forward to properly getting back.”
