Manchester United Looking to Extend Unbeaten Start at Home to Crystal Palace

Manchester United will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the season to three matches this weekend as they face Crystal Palace. The Eagles have not looked up to standard so far this season, and could be in for a long afternoon at Old Trafford.

Manchester United Team News

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not expected to make many changes to his lineup from their 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers. According to Sam Carney of the Manchester United official website, there are no new injury worries for the United manager.

As a result, it will mean that Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will continue to develop their promising partnership. The pair have scored four of the five goals the Red Devils have registered so far this season.

Furthermore, it also means that Aaron Wan-Bissaka will also get the chance to face his old club for the first time. The 21-year-old has continued his impressive form with Manchester United since his move from Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace Team News

In terms of injuries, Roy Hodgson confirmed that it is the same news as last week. Both James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho continue to remain sidelined by injury.

However, one change that the Crystal Palace manager could make for the clash at Old Trafford is in defence. According to Tony Banks of the Daily Express, Gary Cahill could make his debut this weekend for the Eagles this weekend following his summer transfer.

What to Expect From the Game

Expect a battling and dogged defence performance from the visitors. Roy Hodgson’s side rarely threatened Sheffield United during their defeat last weekend to the Blades, and they have registered just six shots on target during their opening two games.

It means that Manchester United are likely to dominate large parts of the game at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that his side can register an early goal against a predominantly second-string Palace defence, while Palace will be relying once more on Wilfried Zaha.

Manchester United v Crystal Palace Verdict

This should be a routine victory for Manchester United. However, the Eagles are prone to upsetting ‘big six’ sides away from home. As a result, United will have to be wary of their attacking threat.
