Dayton Signs New One-Year Deal

James Dayton has officially signed a one-year deal at the club, with the option of a further year.

Signing for Orient in 2017, Dayton has been a prominent part of the squad in their past two seasons in the National League. He was a key figure during their title-winning campaign last season.

However, the former Cheltenham Town player might not feature for some time. In the O’s 2-1 win against Sutton United in April, Dayton dislocated his ankle and subsequently missed the remainder of the campaign.

With this in mind, his recovery is likely in its process right now but it might a while before O’s fans see the winger back in action.

James Alabi off the transfer list

Orient also announced that James Alabi has been removed from the transfer list.

The striker was listed prior to pre-season, as his previous campaign for Orient was not a memorable one.

The 24-year-old scored only twice last season and saw first-team opportunities few and far between. Then in May, the former Tranmere Rovers forward was placed on the transfer list by the club.

Alabi scored in Orient’s 5-0 pre-season victory away to Harlow Town. This would have done his confidence a huge favour; his opportunities for appearances have been limited.

Now with a pre-season goal and being removed from the transfer list, perhaps the hard work for Alabi starts now.

This news was met with encouragement and delight by loads of O’s fans. But can Alabi prove that he has what it takes to be featured next season?
