Potential Transfers for Rising English Stars

Harry Maguire signed for Leicester City in 2017, in an initial £12 million deal with Hull City. The English centre back has since impressed at all levels, ranging from domestic competition to the 2018 World Cup. Maguire has caught the eye of several top clubs in England, including both Manchester clubs. Sources have reported that the Foxes rejected United’s £70 million bid, and Charlie Wyett of The Sun has reported Leicester want £85 million for their prized defender. Parallels between Virgil van Dijk and Harry Maguire can be drawn, in the sense that both players have natural leadership qualities, crucial to an organised defensive unit.

Manchester United are currently the bookie’s favourites to sign the English international, SkyBet offering 8/11 odds on a move to Old Trafford this summer. Rivals, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all in the running to try and secure the Englishman’s signature, you can find here all odds with no deposit. Declan Rice was another breakout star in the Premier League last year. His stature coupled with his composure on the ball and excellent passing range made him a pivotal factor to the bulk of West Ham’s success last season. His recent successes has sparked the debate over whether or not, Rice will be able to reach his full potential at West Ham? Despite this, a move away from London looks unlikely, as Paddy Power is offering odds of 1/7 on the English international remaining at West Ham.

However, given Manchester United’s willingness and ability to rebuild their squad this summer, Rice could be a nice addition to solidify the midfield, especially with reports of Paul Pogba, supposedly wanting a move away. Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent, stated “Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that.”. Bookies odds have reflected these comments as Real Madrid seem to be the hot favourite to sign the Frenchmen. In the event, that Pogba does leave Old Trafford, the Red Devils are favourites to sign Lazio midfielder, Sergej Millinkovic-Savic, with Betfair offering odds at 5/6.

Jadon Sancho also stole the media’s eye last year, as he has taken a more unorthodox route in trying to achieve success. Sancho was sensational for German club, Borussia Dortmund last year and even earned himself his first England cap.

Last year, Sancho showed that age is just a number, as his understanding of the game and dynamic presence on the ball has attracted global attention. Early rumours suggested that he could be on his way back to England to sign for a Premier League club, as the experience he gained in Germany is something a lot of English youngsters lack. However, Dortmund are keen to hang on to their foreign gem, as bookies have 1/7 odds on him staying in Germany for at least another year. Spurs are at 5/1 on securing his signature, but after the signing of Tanguey Ndombele, it seems unlikely that they will have the fund to finance Sancho’s return.
