Stable Condition

The Real Madrid legend and current Porto goalkeeper suffered a heart attack during training with the Dragons on Wednesday. According to reports, the Portuguese keeper had collapsed just after the training with the team. Iker Casillas was then quickly taken to CUF Porto hospital.

In a statement on Football Club Porto’s official website, the team announced that the Casillas was in a stable condition and the heart problem had been resolved. Despite the fact that the Spanish legend is already feeling better, it is unlikely that he will finish the season with his team.

Casillas hasn’t planned on retiring and extended his contract with Porto in March this year. Porto is currently second in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, also known as Liga NOS.

The football club from Porto are two points behind Benfica and have three more games to make a change, meaning he would play for the Portuguese club until 2021. He arrived from Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2015 and has already won three trophies with them.

Not Giving Up

Casillas isn’t giving up on his amazing career in the Spain national team either. After winning the World Cup in 2010 and European Cup in 2008 and 2012, the keeper still wants to break back into the Spanish national team.

‘San Iker’ holds the record for most appearances for the Spain national team – 167. He also has the most international clean sheets – 102, and international victories alongside Sergio Ramos.

Even if Porto finish this season’s league in second place they are still guaranteed a place in the Champions League qualifying rounds. This year the Portuguese team successfully passed the group stages before losing to Roma. The player that stood out the most was Eder Militao. The talented Brazilian defender was signed by Real Madrid for €50 million and will arrive at the Bernabeu this summer.
