Three Players That Can Further Bolster Manchester City’s Squad

Depay Premier League Bolster Manchester City's Squad

Manchester City have continued their domestic domination in English football this year having won the Carabao Cup and still have every fighting chance to make history by winning the ‘quadruple’. However, with an aging squad and the unpredictable nature of modern world football, even Manchester City could use some reinforcements this summer.

Three Summer Signings That Can Strengthen Pep Guardiola’s Side

Saul Niguez

Brazilian midfielder, Fernandinho, has played a key role in Manchester City’s recent success, but he will turn 34 next month and his replacement should be found this summer. Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez seems to fit the bill perfectly. The Spaniard has great defensive abilities and will act as an effective shield for the backline, in addition, the youngster boasts an impressive passing range. Saul has been playing first team football in Spain for a couple of seasons now and has the experience to slot into the current Manchester City side. At just 24 years-old, Saul can be an extremely valuable asset to Pep Guardiola’s side for several years to come. However, if City were to bring him to the Etihad this summer, they may need to give him some time to adapt to the Premier League. We suggest that you keep an eye on EPL odds from BetEasy to learning about Man City’s latest predictions with Niguez in the picture this summer. This will surely be worth monitoring.

Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay failed to live up to the hype at Manchester United, but having found his feet again at Lyon, he could return to Manchester as a completely new player. With David Silva and Sergio Aguero both entering their thirties, Depay could be a future star at Manchester City. The Dutchman has set Ligue 1 alight this season registering six goals and eight assists. City host a plethora of attacking talent but what makes Depay so valuable is his versatility and his ability to play out wide, as an attacking midfielder or even a striker. The 25 years old will also hope to help City capitalise on set pieces as he is one of the most technically gifted players and is very effective when creating chances from outside the box. If Depay does end up in Manchester next season, it will only give punters a harder time trying to predict who makes it onto City’s scoresheet.

Luka Jovic

Serbian sensation Luka Jovic, has stolen the limelight of late as he continues his flying form in the Bundesliga scoring 23 goals so far this season. City currently only have two natural strikers in Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero so the addition of Jovic could increase the Manchester club’s squad depth. Jesus has been somewhat underwhelming when given the chance in the first team and Jovic’s presence in the squad could be helpful in increasing competition and motivating one another to perform at their maximum potential. Jovic could perhaps be the Aguero’s successor or alternatively play alongside Jesus in a two-striker formation.

It seems evident that any of the signings discussed would bolster Manchester City’s squad and would increase their squad depth that is required to achieve their long-term goal of winning the quadruple.
