Kai Havertz: The Bundesliga’s Next Big Talent

Kai Havertz

The Bundesliga has always produced some of the best talents in the world and is widely considered as one of the best leagues in the world for young footballers to develop. This is one of the main reasons why English clubs today fear the Bundesliga tempting their young players. It has happened with Chelsea as their hot-shot Callum Hudson-Odoi sent in a transfer request to the club for a move to Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga has provided the world of football with another amazing player in the form of Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz. The 19-year-old midfielder has been a revelation this season, netting nine goals in 22 appearances.

Player Profile: Kai Havertz

The midfield sensation has taken the Bundesliga by storm, forming a formidable partnership with Julian Brandt.

Havertz’s style is very similar to fellow German Mesut Ozil, with both having a great vision for passes. The Leverkusen man is a very swift player who likes to dribble and do lay-offs. He is a big counter-attacking threat. The midfielder is quick in sorting his feet out with the ball and plays the killer pass to create goal-scoring opportunities for his attackers.

The young German can even play as an attacking midfielder as well as a defensive one, but his preferred position is central midfield. When placed centrally, he creates opportunities for the likes of Karim Bellarabi, Brandt and Lucas Alario to score. He possesses an incredible technicality where he attracts the opposition, which helps in creates spaces for his teammates to run into.

Following his impressive performances in Bundesliga this season, he was called up to Germany’s national team by Joachim Low and was included in the squad for UEFA Nations League match against France and the friendly against Peru.

This young gun possesses the ability and potential to follow the footsteps of German legends and enter the Hall of Fame by the end of his footballing career.

Peter Bosz – Perfect For Havertz

The arrival of new manager Peter Bosz has had a positive impact on Havertz’s game. The young midfielder looked to have improved a lot in just a short span of time under Bosz. The Dutch manager played a crucial role in developing Ajax’s youth. Now, he has a new assignment in the form of Havertz. The manager loves working with young players and develops their potential. He has already developed the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Matthias de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech, for instance.

Bayer Leverkusen are a very young team. The likes of Paulinho, Brandt, Havertz and Leon Bailey have infinite potential in them. Havertz has the perfect mentor in the form of Bosz who can help develop him and aid him in reaching his enormous potential.

Havertz still has to work on his tackling because his major weakness lies in this area. This makes the youngster defensively weak and allows players to move past him easily.

He is a leader and is a captaincy material for the future. It won’t be surprising to see this youngster captain his country in a World Cup-winning campaign for the Germans. He has magic in his feet just like Mesut Ozil and is destined to reach great heights. This Leverkusen hotshot is showing sights of becoming a future Ballon d’Or winner.
