Jordon Mutch Departs Crystal Palace

It has been announced today that Jordon Mutch has left Crystal Palace by mutual consent. Having joined in 2015 for £5 million, he went on to make 40 appearances for the Eagles. He has spent the last year on loan at MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps and made 18 appearances for them. The former Cardiff City player leaves six months before his contract was due to end.

Jordon Mutch Leaves Palace

Failed To Make An Impact For Palace

Mutch signed for Crystal Palace in the January transfer window of 2015 and while not the most exciting signing, fans were looking forward to seeing what he could do in a Palace shirt. He had looked impressive for Cardiff City in their 2013/14 campaign, in which he scored seven times. However, he looked less impressive for QPR – whom he played for before Palace – as he failed to make a regular impact on their first team.

However, he failed to make a regular impact at Selhurst Park, making most appearances as a substitute.

Did Not Impress At Other Clubs

During his time at Crystal Palace, Jordon Mutch had two loan spells at Reading and at Vancouver Whitecaps. He failed to impress for Reading and was labelled ‘awful’ by some fans. His short loan spell ending at the Madjeski ended with just nine appearances and the one goal.

His spell in the MLS could perhaps be considered slightly more successful. Mutch joined the Canadian side on a one-year loan, ready for their 2018 MLS campaign. He made 18 appearances for Vancouver and scored two goals from midfield.

Where Next For Mutch?

A return to Cardiff City could be on the cards for the midfielder. He is reportedly a target for the Welsh side. It could be a good move for both parties as he is now without a club and would be returning to a club where he was a fan favourite.
