Michy Batshuayi Would Be Perfect For Crystal Palace

Michy Batshuayi

Crystal Palace may turn to Michy Batshuayi after Roy Hodgson confirmed they would not be signing Dominic Solanke. Fitness problems were cited as a reason for not signing the Liverpool youngster on loan. The Eagles are desperate to sign a striker this window. Only one goal has been scored by their strikers so far this season. Batshuayi has found opportunities hard to come by so far this season. He has made just four starts for loan side Valencia and only scored once. A return to London and the Premier League may suit him.

Perfect For Palace

Guaranteed First Team Opportunities

Jordan Ayew was the first Palace striker to score this season in Crystal Palace’s 2-0 win at Wolves. The signing of Batshuayi would certainly be an upgrade on their strikers. Ayew and Alexander Sorloth have so far failed to impress since signing for Palace. This is while Connor Wickham’s injury record is unreliable and Christian Benteke is still out injured. Therefore, Batshuayi may be the perfect signing.

Palace’s two most recent wins have seen them playing with just the one striker. It would be preferred by the fans, as it means a return to the wing for star man Wilfried Zaha. Batshuayi would provide the quality needed to boost their goal tally. The Belgian is a modern day ‘fox in the box’ striker. He would certainly suit the Eagles’ ‘get the ball into the box’ style of play.

Easy Convenience For Both?

If Batshuayi is to return to Chelsea then that means a return to London. He wouldn’t have to go very far for a move to Crystal Palace. This may suit Chelsea as it means that they can keep closer tabs on their player. Batshuayi would also be able to link up with Belgian teammate Christian Benteke.

This isn’t the first time that Palace have taken an interest in Batshuayi. They were previously linked in 2016 before he signed for Chelsea. It is likely that he would not be too hard to scout should the interest be true.

Verdict

Manager Roy Hodgson should be looking to go all out for Batshuayi. He would be a fantastic addition to their squad and bolster their attacking options. However, it may be one that drags on throughout the window.
