Deadline Day Round-Up Including Isaac Mbenza and Andre Gomes

Andre Gomes

Deadline day has, once again, provided us with excitement and anticipation as clubs rush around trying to find the final pieces of their respective jigsaws for the coming season. Here’s a round-up of some of the deals you may have missed amongst all of the news coming through.

Deadline Day Round-Up

Leicester Complete Benkovic Deal

Leicester have completed a deal for Croatia U21 international Filip Benkovic from Dinamo Zagreb. The centre-back, 21, has joined on a five-year deal after making 30 appearances for the Croatian champions in 2017/18.

The fee for the deal is undisclosed but it is believed it was in the region of £13 million.

Upon his signing, Benkovic said: “I will give all my heart to this club, to the fans, to everybody.”

Cardiff Loan Victor Camarasa

Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa has joined newly-promoted Premier League side Cardiff City on a season-long loan. Camarasa played 24 times for Betis last season, who finished sixth in La Liga.

The Spaniard is yet to feature for the senior national team but has played for the U21’s four times, most recently in March 2017.

Dan Burn Gets Premier League Move

Wigan Athletic defender Dan Burn has joined Brighton & Hove Albion on a four-year deal but will remain with the Latics on loan until the January transfer window.

It’s thought that the loan is due to Burn currently being injured with a broken bone in his foot, so he is able to continue his recovery and possibly get a chance to build his fitness back up with Wigan.

West Ham Sign Former Villa Midfielder

West Ham have completed the signing of former Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez from Fiorentina on a two-year deal.

Sanchez was part of the Colombia team that was knocked out of the World Cup by England at the Round of 16 stage of this year’s World Cup.

Huddersfield Sign Belgian Winger

Huddersfield Town have signed Belgium U21 international Isaac Mbenza on a season-long loan deal from Montpellier.

The Terriers have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2018/19 season. Mbenza netted ten goals in 43 appearances for Montpellier.

Everton Complete Loan of Barcelona Midfielder

Everton completed a miraculous deadline day by agreeing the loan of Barcelona’s Andre Gomes. The Toffees will pay €2.5 million for the season-long loan and will take the full brunt of the player’s wages.

Fulham Confirm Three Deadline Day Signings

As well as the deal for Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Fulham have also confirmed the signings of Sergio Rico from Valencia and Joe Bryan from Bristol City.

Rico joins on a season-long loan from Valencia having made 170 appearances for the La Liga side, while Bryan completes a £6 million move from Championship side Bristol City after turning down a move to Aston Villa.
