Joao Moutinho Signs For Wolves From Monaco

Joao Moutinho

Wolves have signed Portugal international Joao Moutinho on a two-year deal. The fee agreed is believed to be around £5 million. The experienced 31-year-old joins from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco where he helped them to a second-place finish in the league and runners-up in the Coupe de la Ligue.

Joao Moutinho Joins Wolves

Wolves have added to their squad once again following the signing of fellow Portuguese international Rui Patricio and Raul Jimenez earlier this summer. The fans will be delighted with the quality of players Nuno is looking to bring to the Molineux. His passing and solid defensive game are the reason that he amassed 33 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season, as well as three appearances at the World Cup for Portugal.

The Little Portuguese Maestro

Moutinho will suit Wolves’ style of play with his slick passing in midfield. You can see why he’s been ever present with previous clubs, notching up 404 club appearances for his three previous clubs over a 14-year period. As well as an ever-present for his clubs, he’s also third on Portugal’s all-time capped players list with 113 caps, helping them to their maiden championship at Euro 2016.

With his defensive and passing traits being key to his style of play, Wolves will be a force whilst in possession with Moutinho alongside Ruben Neves, both being such brilliant passers of the ball.

Any attacker would love to play with Moutinho. He’s got an eye for a pass and could potentially be key in attacking phases, which would lead to a few good chances a game.

Shrewd Business

Moutinho joins a growing list of new players to come through the doors at Molineux. He becomes the ninth signing of the summer, with a further three in the pipeline.

All of their deals so far would usually be out of range for a club that has just been promoted, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are clearly not messing around in their quest to be at the top of English football.
