Shaw, Alisson, Bale and Mahrez Transfer News

Luke Shaw

Reports have emerged that Luke Shaw is set to stay at Manchester United and fight for a place in Jose Mourinho’s team. The left-back, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, has a year left on his United contract. However, as it stands it seems Shaw may give one last throw of the dice at Old Trafford.

Previously, Shaw has been criticised by managers such as Mauricio Pochettino, Roy Hodgson and Louis van Gaal. However, the manager that criticised Shaw that gained the most media attention was Mourinho. Consequentially, if the left-back is going to succeed at United he will need an attitude change to suit the Portuguese boss.

Alisson

According to the Irish Times, Alisson Becker is being targeted by Liverpool as their new goalkeeper. Additionally, this news comes directly after Loris Karius committed two mistakes which lead to Real Madrid scoring two goals to win the Champions League. Furthermore, Karius received death threats by Liverpool fans which would indicate the German’s Anfield career may be over.

As a result of both Karius and Simon Mignolet having inconsistent Liverpool careers, Alisson was scouted throughout the season. The Brazilian keeper will be one to watch at the World Cup for Liverpool fans should he start ahead of Ederson.

Gareth Bale

BBC report that a return to Tottenham Hotspur is not an option for Gareth Bale. Expectedly, due to Tottenham’s low wage structure, the Welshman would not be a realistic target for the North London club. Bale is thought to be on £400,000 a week after tax whereas Tottenham’s highest paid player is Harry Kane who is reportedly on £100,000 a week. Consequentially, with Toby Alderweireld being frozen out due to a rift over wages, it is unlikely Tottenham will resign their former talisman.

Riyad Mahrez

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are reportedly in negotiations to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City. The Premier League champions are willing to pay up to £75 million for the Algerian winger. City previously attempted to sign Mahrez in January. Now Pep Guardiola is hoping to get his business done early in the window.

In addition, it is thought that Guardiola has identified Mahrez to take the workload off Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling. The 27-year-old winger is thought to have welcomed City’s offer as he wishes to play at the highest level.
