Jose Mourinho will implement Fred alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic. Both Pogba and Matic are important for Mourinho’s plans and he expects Fred to get the best out of the two players.

Recently, Fred has been the centre of much transfer speculation in Manchester. The Brazilian has also been linked to Manchester City. However, Pep Guardiola has turned his attention to Napoli midfielder Jorginho.

Furthermore, Fred could complete his medical next week whilst he is in the North West for International duty. Fred made Brazil’s 23-man squad for the World Cup next month.

Brazil are taking on Croatia in a warm-up match for the World Cup at the home of United’s rivals Liverpool. United fans will be keeping an eye on the game as they hope to catch a glimpse of their new signing at Anfield.

Origins

The player’s full name is Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos but simply known as Fred. He was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Fred is a product of the Porto Alegre-based Internacional’s youth academy. He completed a move to Shakhtar Donetsk in June 2013. Until now, Ukraine is where the midfielder played his football.

The player is coming into his prime years, just what Manchester United need. The 25-year-old has featured 20 times for Shakhtar Donetsk this season. Additionally, Fred has scored two goals and registered one assist.

Moreover, the player is a defensive midfielder and he will strengthen United’s team. Fred has averaged at least 2.9 tackles per game in the season just gone.

The Brazilian will offer Manchester United a more dynamic option in midfield. The player is only 5-foot-6 however, he makes up for this with his pace and passing ability. Fred will drive the ball up the pitch and pass the ball forward. This would add more dynamism to United’s attack as their players have developed a habit of backwards passing.
