Can Super Bayern Win the Champions League?

Super Bayern

Bayern Munich could well be on their way to another Champions League triumph. On April 11th they hosted Sevilla in their quarter-final second leg. Before a sellout crowd of 70,000, including a lively group from Spain, they safely progressed to the last four. Though the game finished goalless the Bavarians never really needed top gear. Nevertheless, they can still be Super Bayern.

Bayern Can Win the Champions League

On a night when the fans could bask in the glory of yet another Bundesliga title, Bayern still illustrated why they can win the UCL. What they offer are a range of threats, a unique pair of wide men and formidable record. And having clinched the league they can now fully concentrate on the big European prize.

The Robben and Ribery Show

It’s rare to see two wide men, once known as wingers, continuing to perform at such a high level for such a period and for the same team. Now in their mid-thirties, the Franco-Dutch duo caused Sevilla numerous problems. Robben with his trademark break inside and left foot shot. Ribery with his tricks down the left. And after all those years together they know how to combine. Not surprisingly they are expected to have their contracts renewed by the Bayern management.

Dangers Everywhere

Though they failed to break through the Spaniard’s defence this time Bayern offer threats from many sources. Backing up the wide men Kimmich can deliver telling crosses. James Rodriguez has blossomed under Heynckes. Hummels can produce some dangerous shots, as he showed against Sevilla. Not to mention proven goalscorers Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski. Goals can come from everywhere.

Super Bayern

Recently securing their record 28th Bundesliga title, sixth in succession, and with five games remaining Bayern dominate in Germany. Last winning the UCL in 2013, which was their fifth such title. They have never faced Real Madrid in the final, perhaps this could be that year? Many will be backing the Bavarians for victory.
