Monday night in the show featured nine games after the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Angels match-up was postponed to a double-header Wednesday. Around the league, we saw a family reunion in the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates game when Richie and Joshua Palacios shared the field and made some outstanding plays. Elsewhere, Texas Rangers’ pitcher Jordan Montgomery went eight flawless innings only to see his bullpen surrender the lead and the game in extra-innings to the Arizona Diamondbacks. In Chicago, the Seattle Mariners continued their scheduled programming for their 7th straight win.

For our bets, a 2-1 is a good day by any standards. The Mariners pounded the Chicago White Sox 14-2 for our money-line chance, and the Atlanta Braves could put up four runs before the 5th inning to cash out over 2.5 runs in the first five innings. Our only loss came from the Boston Red Sox – Houston Astros game, where after a three-run home run from Adam Duvall, the Red Sox were outscored 9–1 the rest of the way.

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS VS. PITTSBURGH PIRATES: PIRATES ML (-135) The Pittsburgh Pirates got to the St. Louis Cardinals starter Drew Rom early and often, hitting him for six runs on eight hits in their 11-1 victory last night. In eight matchups this season, the Pirates are now 6-2 against their division rivals and have outscored them 39-21.
Tonight’s pitching matchup will be Johan Oviedo vs. Adam Wainwright, whose struggles have been widely documented this year. Wainwright’s 8.42 ERA is not pretty, and he has given up 18 earned runs in his last ten innings. Oviedo was excellent his last time out against the Cardinals, going seven innings, striking out 10, and giving up one run.
Look to take the Pirates ML for around -135 and could also target Pittsburgh total teams runs at o4.5 (-135).
MIAMI MARLINS VS. SAN DIEGO PADRES: PADRES o2.5 TT – F5 (+114)
The walls feel like they’re finally closing on the San Diego Padres season. They sit 17.5 GB in the NL West and 5.5 GB in the NL Wild Card. The Southern California ballclub energy has been off all season, and their record in one-run games (6-23) also shows a bit of bad luck.
With that said, the Padres rode a four-run second inning to a 6-2 victory over the Marlins last night and will be happy to see Miami Marlins’ pitcher Jesus Luzardo on the bump. In his only start vs. the Padres this year, he gave up five runs in 5.1 innings and had a 6.55 ERA in his last seven games. Xander Bogaerts (.333), Trent Grisham (.500), Manny Machado (.333), Gary Sanchez (.500, 1 HR), and Fernado Tatis Jr. (.400, 3 RBI) all have found previous success off of Luzardo.
Look for the Padres to get to Luzardo early in this one, target their full game total runs at o3.5 (-145), but stay away from their ML.
WASHINGTON NATIONALS VS. NEW YORK YANKEES: NATS o3.5 TT (-110)
From one underperforming team to another in the New York Yankees. They are 1-9 in their last ten games and 9.5 GB in the AL Wild Card race. They welcome a Washington Nationals team that is 7-3 in their previous games and surging from the bottom of the NL East.
The Yankees starting rotation would be their calling card this season, but it has not panned out, especially for Carlos Rodon. Rodon has gone 1-4 in six games this season with a 7.33 ERA in 27 innings. His last time out did not go well, it was his shortest start of the season (2.2 IP), and he gave up five earned runs.
The Nationals are currently 4th in the whole league in batting average vs. LHP (.277). Outfielder Stone Garrett (.600, 1 HR) and catcher Riley Adams (.500) have had previous success off of Carlos Rodon and have been hot recently, hitting .407 and .370 in their last seven games, respectively.
Target the hot bats of the Nationals in this game and look at the ML for a plus-money play, too (+150).
