MLB Players That Have Been Impressive So Far This Season

The 2024 regular season commenced on March 28th, and we’ve seen some impressive players from many teams in both the AL and NL. It will certainly be interesting to see which teams lead each division as we progress further into the season. Let’s take a look at some of these players and the numbers they have put up.

MLB Players That Have Been Monumental So Far This Season

Juan Soto, New York Yankees

It comes as no surprise that the New York Yankees have a 6-1 record and currently lead the AL East. Everyone knew that when Juan Soto signed with the Yankees that it would beef up their lineup and offense. Soto currently has a home run, 10 hits, four RBIs and a .345 batting average in 29 at-bats so far this season.

Justin Turner, Toronto Blue Jays

When the Blue Jays signed Turner in the offseason, there were concerns about his age, but the 39-year-old has been impressive, recording a home run, seven hits, and four RBIs in 22 at-bats this season. He also collected all of his four RBIs in one game and played a game where he could get on base in every at-bat. Turner has also played better in his 30s compared to his 20s, pointing to the fact that he is a rare player who has played better as he has aged.

Davis Schneider, Toronto Blue Jays

“The Babe Schneider” has picked up right where he left off in 2023 and has continued to shine. He helped the Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 2-1 with a two-run home run, which ended up being the home run that led the Blue Jays to victory. He was the hero of the game, and so far on the season, he has recorded two home runs, two hits, four RBIs, and a .250 batting average in eight at-bats.

Yordan Alvarez, Houston Astros

Yordan Alvarez was very impressive against the Blue Jays in the 8-0 shut out and victory on Wednesday evening. He hit two home runs in the game, a single and a double. The homers were his first two of the season. Aside from his two home runs, he has also recorded seven hits and three RBIs in 29 at-bats.

Salvador Perez, Kansas City Royals

The 33-year-old back catcher currently has two home runs, nine hits, eight RBIs, and a .375 batting average in 24 at-bats this season. His three-run homer against the Orioles was hit 390 feet into left field.

Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles

This youngster lefty has been impressive so far this season, recording a home run, five hits, and five RBIs in 21 at-bats. The 22-year-old is also favorited and has been speculated for the MVP award this season. At such a young age and doing well offensively, he has stood out alongside his teammate Adley Rutschman, who is also favored in the MVP Award race.

Adley Rutschman, Baltimore Orioles

The 26-year-old has made some noise in the AL as he is the only catcher in MLB not to strike out. If that’s not impressive, then I don’t know what it is. He also has seven hits, three RBIs, and a .333 batting average in 21 at-bats this season.

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers

The 2023 World Series champ has a home run, eight hits, three RBIs, and a .364 batting average in 22 at-bats this season. Seager has also shown great success at Globe Life Field with impressive numbers. He has recorded a .308 batting average, a .380 OBP, a .621 SLG, a .1.001 OPS, and a 43.8 hard hit %.

Paul Goldschmidt, St. Louis Cardinals

The 36-year-old first baseman has recorded a home run, six hits, and five RBIs in 25 at-bats this season. The home run that he hit on Opening Day was a solo home run that went deep at 401 feet.

Michael Taylor, Pittsburgh Pirates

Taylor has been impressive this season. He has had a hit in every game so far, nine hits, six RBIs, a stolen base, and a .429 batting average in 21 at-bats. Michael A. Taylor has been on an absolute tear, and the whole Pirates lineup is hot right now. Where Taylor bats is a perfect opportunity for him to get plenty of RBIs. This Pirates team is playing some of the best in 2024 so far.

Seiya Suzuki, Chicago Cubs

This Cubs right fielder has recorded two home runs, nine hits, eight RBIs, and a .333 batting average in 27 at-bats this season. He hit his two home runs in two games, and it’s also been speculated that he will have an MVP season. He’s also been called the Japanese Mike Trout.

Tyler Glasnow, LA Dodgers

This ace pitcher has gone 2-0 on the season with a 3.18 ERA and has 15 strikeouts. The Dodgers picked up Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays in the offseason. A fun fact about Glasnow is that he prefers facing a lineup a third time through the lineup. Inevitably, this probably gives him sufficient time to read the players he is facing and pick up on their strengths and weaknesses.

Teoscar Hernandez, LA Dodgers

Hernandez has put up the most impressive numbers among these players. This season, he has recorded four home runs, nine hits, and 10 RBIs in 25 at-bats. Teo also has a multi-home run game against the Cardinals this season. He also recorded three home runs in the series against the Cardinals.

Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians have been on a hot streak with scoring runs, and Ramirez now has 7 RBIs, a home run, and 10 hits. Ramirez took a pay cut to remain in the city he adores, which shows how passionate he is about his team.

Shane Bieber, Cleveland Guardians

Bieber currently leads the MLB with 20 strikeouts, and his team has been killing it offensively. Just like Glasnow, he has a 2-0 record with an iconic 0.00 ERA. What a great start to the season for the 28-year-old. When he faced the Seattle Mariners, he pitched six innings, six hits, zero runs, zero walks, and nine strikeouts.

Taylor Ward, LA Angels

This outfielder and third baseman has gone far from silent and has recorded three home runs, eight hits, a .320 batting average, and eight RBIs in 25 plate appearances. Ward has arguably been the Angels best hitter so far, and to think that many wanted to trade him for pitching.

Marcell Ozuna, Atlanta Braves

The 33-year-old outfielder has recorded three home runs, five hits, and five RBIs in 22 at-bats. He also had a multi-home run game against the Chicago White Sox. Also, since the beginning of May 2023, Ozuna has played 131 regular-season games and hit .294 with 70 extra-base hits, including 41 home runs, 103 RBIs, a .360 OBP, .604 slugging percentage, and .965 OPS in 493 at-bats. Talk about impressive!

Luis Robert Jr., Chicago White Sox

Last but not least is centerfielder Robert Jr. He has two home runs, five hits, and four RBIs in 20 at-bats this season. When he hits home runs, he doesn’t just hit them; he smashes them out of the ballpark. The first home run that he hit this season went as deep as 449 feet at 111.9 mph. Talk about power and astoundingly impressive!

These players have kicked off the MLB regular season on a great start. They are showcasing and drawing attention to the young talent that MLB has. It will be intriguing to see how all they continue to play as the season progresses. Can they continue on their hot streak? Only time will tell.
