MLB Betting Picks of the Day 8/14

MLB Betting Picks

Another great weekend of baseball is in the books and now we have another full week of games to win some money on. Over the past weekend, the Atlanta Braves scored 40 runs in four games to take the series over their division rivals the New York Mets. Baltimore Orioles center fielder Cedric Mullins had an outstanding catch to rob Seattle MarinersTy France of a game-tying home run before his two-run home run won the game in the 10th inning on Sunday. Finally, the Miami Marlins scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on Sunday for an improbable comeback against the New York Yankees.

Monday night features nine excellent games and LWOS has three MLB betting picks to target in tonight’s baseball action. Don’t forget to tail and BOL!

MLB Betting Picks of the Day 8/14

Houston Astros vs Miami Marlins: Bell vs Valdez

This series is looking like it could be a fun one in Miami this week. The Miami Marlins have soared back into the NL Wild Card race, thanks to their own play and the struggles of fellow competitors. The Houston Astros have quietly gone about their business and sit firmly in the 2nd AL Wild Card spot.

Part of this resurgence is thanks to trade deadline acquisitions of Jake Burger and Josh Bell. Bell has hit .310 since linking up with the Marlins and has looked more like his 2019 self where he hit 37 home runs and 116 RBIs. Houston Astros’ starter Framber Valdez has thrown a no-hitter this season but in his last five games holds a 5.65 ERA. Valdez has thrown the combination of his sinker and fastball around 48% of the time and his sinker has been hit for a .465xSLG this season.

Bell’s slash line of .316/.495/.632 on sinkers this year is key in this matchup. Take Bell’s bases prop to hit over or his h+r+rbi over total (1.5, +100)

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Colorado Rockies: Pham vs. Flexen

Arizona Diamondbacks trade deadline acquisition Tommy Pham has started to hit the ball recently after his slow start in Arizona. He is riding a five-game hit streak and has been perfect in his only two ABs vs. Colorado Rockies starter Chris Flexen.

Pham has slashed .338/.410./.581 in his career at Coors Field. He has also been hitting right-handed pitching better than left-handed this season. Flexen leans on his curveball to get batters out (66.7% putaway) and Pham has seen the curveball well all season (.652xSLG).

Pham’s season line of 324/.455/.635 on fastballs, Flexen’s most thrown pitch, should send out warning signs for the Rockies in this match-up. Look to target over on Pham’s total bases prop and his hit total.

Baltimore Orioles vs San Diego Padres: McCann vs Darvish

When you think of the Baltimore Orioles offense, backup catcher James McCann hardly comes to mind but he has been raking in recent games.  In his career, he has hit .400 off of San Diego Padres starter Yu Darvish (10 at-bats) and has two long balls and five RBIs.

In his last seven games, McCann has gone .529 with nine hits and eight RBI. McCann has been no slouch at the plate vs. SD, the California native has hit .261/.320/.565 against the Padres.

Yu Darvish has been up and down this season, with a 4.19 ERA and a career-high 37.5% hard-hit rate. His fastball and sinker have been hit around this year, with xBA of .253 and .275 on each pitch, respectively.

McCann has hit the four-seam for a .278xBA and has a .402xBA on the sinker this year. Target the over on McCann’s total bases and hits prop tonight.
