June 27th Moneyline Plays

Yesterday was a good day on the gambling front. We hit three out of our five plays in a slow schedule day, including two player props. This puts us up .23 units for the week! Let’s keep that going today as we take a look at our moneyline plays for June 27th.

June 27th Moneyline Plays

Moneyline Favorite Headliner: Rays @ Diamondbacks

The Tampa Bay Rays with their record being the best in baseball head to Pheonix to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Game one of this series sees the Rays send Taj Bradley to the hill. The 22-year-old rookie has done very well in his debut season. Through 10 starts and 49 innings, he has a 3.86 ERA and 71 strikeouts. Across his last seven starts, however, he has a 4.01 ERA over 33.2 innings, including a 4.5 ERA over his last three starts. He will be facing a very potent lineup in this one, one that ranks third as a team for fewest batter strikeouts.

The Diamondbacks will be sending last year’s breakout star Zac Gallen to the mound. He comes in today with a 2.84 ERA across 98.1 innings with 104 strikeouts. He has been a bit worse of late than he was to start the year. Over his last seven starts, he has an ERA of 3.51 over 41 innings. However, he is coming off back-to-back starts of seven innings pitched in each with only one earned run allowed in each. Back the Diamondbacks in this one.

Moneyline Play: Arizona Diamondbacks – 1.5U

Bonus Player Prop: Taj Bradley U 5.5 Strikeouts – 0.5U

Taj has averaged 7.1 strikeouts per start in his rookie campaign. However, he does have two starts with five or fewer strikeouts, both coming against teams that do well at avoiding striking out. As stated above, the Diamondbacks are very good at not striking out, and they are the best team he has faced in that regard.

Back The Dog: Reds @ Orioles

The Cincinnati Reds take their talents north to Camden Yards to face the Baltimore Orioles. A tale of two burgeoning teams with young stars abounds as the Reds send Andrew Abbott to the mound to make his fifth career start. Through the other four, he carries a 1.14 ERA across 23.2 innings with 22 strikeouts. He is coming off of the worst start of his Major League career thus far, however, in which he gave up three earned runs across six innings. He did strike out 10 batters in that game, no less, a career-high.

The Orioles will be sending Tyler Wells to the mound. In 15 starts this season, Wells has a 3.22 ERA across 86.2 innings pitched with 88 strikeouts. Over his last seven starts, he has a 3.86 ERA across 39.2 innings and 49 strikeouts. However, over the last three, Wells has a 2.95 ERA across 18.1 innings, giving up two earned runs in each of those starts. Both pitchers limit baserunners, as each of them carries WHIPs below 1. Expect a low-scoring game in this one, and back the Reds.

Moneyline Play: Cincinnati Reds – 1U

Bonus Prop: U4.5 First Five – 1U

Take A Flyer: Brewers @ Mets

[metabet_core_game_tile query=”531534″ size=”350×300″ site_id=”lastwordonsports”]

In the second game of this series, the Milwaukee Brewers look to put another “W” on the board against the New York Mets. The Mets were heavy favorites in yesterday’s matchup, and we advised against betting on that game. It worked out in our favor as the Mets did in fact lose in what was a low-scoring contest. Today, the Brewers will be sending reclamation project Julio Teheran to the mound. Through six starts this season, Teheran has a 1.53 ERA across 35.1 innings. He has a K/9 below nine as he has never been a strikeout pitcher, but a WHIP of 0.88 as he has done what he does best so far in limiting base runners. Over his last three starts, he has a 1.5 ERA through 18 innings, with one of those starts being against the Diamondbacks who he did not allow to score an earned run through five innings.

The Mets will be sending David Peterson to the mound. The 27-year-old lefty has struggled mightily this year as he comes into this game with an 8.08 ERA across eight starts and 39 innings. He does have 45 strikeouts to go along with that atrocious ERA, however. Over his last three starts, he has a 9.45 ERA and allowed four or more earned runs in each of those starts, while still carrying a K/9 over 9.0. This seems like an easy pick to “take a flyer,” but the Mets have been a conundrum all season. This game can go either way. It all depends on whether or not the Mets’ players are still bought in on the season.

Moneyline Play: Milwaukee Brewers – 1U
