Los Angeles Dodgers Clinch Their Seventh Consecutive Division Title

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-3 and have clinched their seventh consecutive division title. This is the 18th National League Western Division championship the Dodgers have won. The Dodgers have won 23 National League pennants including the last two and six World Series titles overall.

Dodgers 2019 Season

The Dodgers record is 94-52 and they have an 18.5 game lead over the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks. They have the best record in the National League with a four-game lead over the Atlanta Braves. They also trail the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros by one game for the best record in all of baseball. The Dodgers have a 56-20 home record and would love the road to the World Series to run through Dodgertown.

The Dodgers are in the top ten in all major offensive categories in the major leagues. With 258 HR, 799 runs scored, .259 AVG, .340 OBP, .478 SLG and a .818 OPS. The Dodgers also lead the majors with a 3.40 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. The Dodgers are second in the majors with a .223 batting average against and have allowed the third-fewest HR with 170.

Dodgers Loaded Roster

The Dodgers have a loaded roster with a great mixture of veteran players and budding star players. Players such as Clayton Kershaw, Justin Turner, Max Muncy, and Corey Seager have paced this team all season long. The farm system has produced talented players such as catcher Will Smith, infielder Gavin Lux, and pitchers Walker Buehler and Dustin May among others. The veteran players on this roster are still young enough to be productive for the next few years.

The Dodgers could have both the National League MVP in Cody Bellinger and Cy Young winner in Hyun-Jin Ryu. The Dodgers also have the money to be competitive in both re-signing their own players and signing new players. So there is no reason to believe this team can’t continue this run of division titles. If this team does have a weak spot it is in the bullpen. But this is a trend most teams in the major leagues deal with.

Unfinished Business

This season has been about one thing for the Dodgers. It’s World Series or bust. The Dodgers have lost the last two World Series. In a playoff series, anything can happen. We have seen the better team lose a playoff series before and there is no guarantee the Dodgers will get back to the World Series.

No matter what team accomplishments the Dodgers have or individual awards their players get this season is about getting that World Series ring. The Dodgers have the horses to win. The first step has been accomplished. Next step is the National League Divisional Series.
