On Tuesday, the New York Yankees announced that their All-Star outfielder, Aaron Judge underwent shoulder surgery.

The Yankees are expecting Judge to be back and fully recovered by the time spring training starts up for the 2018 season. The team announced that the surgery involved a loose-body removal and cartilage clean-up.
New York Yankees Outfielder Aaron Judge Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery
Judge accomplished a bunch of different things in his rookie year this past season. The right-handed slugger was an American League All-Star, won the AL Rookie of the Year, earned the Silver Slugger Award, became the Home Run Derby champion during the All-Star break and last but not least lead the AL in homers and also set a record for most home runs in a rookie season with 52.
Judge had a WAR of 8.1, played in 155 games, batted .284/.422/.627, he hit 24 doubles, 3 triples, hit 52 homers as mentioned above, drove in 114 runs, drew 127 walks, and struck out 208 times.
Judge had a monstrous first half in 2017 but saw a steady decline and heading back to reality during the second half of the year. The Yankee slugger struck out in 37 consecutive games at one point during the second half.
During the 2017 year, Judge also made his first postseason appearances. Judge and the Yankees earned the opportunities to play in the American League Wild Card Game, the ALDS against the Cleveland Indians, and the ALCS against the Houston Astros.
Judge played in a total of 13 postseason games. He hit .188/.316/.500, he hit 3 doubles, 4 homers, drove in 11 runs, was walked 9 times, and struck out 27 times (set an ALDS record of 16 strikeouts).
Judge broke the following records:
- Most Home Runs by a Rookie
- Became the youngest player to hit 13 homers within the first 26 games of a season
- Second rookie to hit 30 home runs before the All-Star break
- Most strikeouts by a rookie
- Most walks by a rookie
- The first rookie in MLB history to have at least 45 homers, 100 RBIs, and 100 runs scored
- Second Rookie to hit 4 home runs in a single postseason (Evan Longoria had 6 in 2008)
- Most consecutive games with a strikeout (37 consecutive games)
