Arizona Diamondbacks Bats are Staying Hot

Believe it or not, the Arizona Diamondbacks are one of the best offensive teams in Major League Baseball right now. Over their last five games, the Dbacks have recorded 58 hits and have scored a total of 36 runs. Not all of those runs have been from the long ball, but those are certainly helping the Diamondbacks win games.

Arizona Diamondbacks Bats are Staying Hot

Arizona has now won five games in a row. Because of their hot bats, the Diamondbacks have managed to win eight of their last 10 games. As they finish up their series against the San Diego Padres, lets take a look at how they rank among the other MLB teams.

Take a Look by the Numbers:

    • Fourth – The Diamondbacks sit at fourth in the league in total home runs, with 62. That’s well above the league average of 51.
    • First – They are in first place in hits right now, four hits above the second place Washington Nationals.
    • Second – Diamondbacks rank second in triples with 11, and are four behind the category-leading Cincinnati Reds.
    • Fourth – The Dbacks are fourth in the league with runs scored, sitting at 225 on the season thus far.

Road Warriors

Players such as Jake Lamb have been hitting more efficiently on the road this year. Last season’s struggles are clearly gone for the lefty third baseman. He has been thriving over the course of the past eight games; he’s currently riding an eight-game hitting streak, over the course of which he’s notched four home runs and 13 RBI, while batting .469.

Comfort on the Mound

Because the are bats producing in abundance, Diamondbacks pitchers have had runs behind them on the board early, which allows them to feel more comfortable on the mound and helps them pitch deeper into games. For instance, over the past five games, their starting pitchers have averaged seven innings of work in each game. If the defense and offense continue to click for the Arizona Diamondbacks, they will continue to stay in the race for first in the National League West. Right now, the Diamondbacks are in second place in the NL West; they trail the division-leading Colorado Rockies by just a single game, and sit one game in front of the third place Los Angeles Dodgers.
