Podcast (September 20, 2018) – Hello Rapids fans! Today on Holding The High Line with Red and Rapids Republic (surprise!)! Rabbi is out this week celebrating the high holiday without hydration or food. Joseph Samelson joins Matt to recap Colorado’s wilting loss to Atlanta United FC. We break down all the bad performances and strategic issues that took place on Saturday.

The guys move on to preview this weekend’s match at Columbus Crew SC. We break down the Black and Gold from back to front, discuss playing style, and how the heck the Rapids are going to both score on this defense and stop their attack. It’s not looking good fam, not good at all. We then look big picture at the #SaveTheCrew movement, Anthony Precourt’s [expletive expletive], and what the eventual outcome of this clown fire means for American Soccer.

We finish off with a big picture look at Colorado’s objectives post-playoff elimination. That turns into a conversation about the off-season, what changes could and should be made, and what the consequences of those actions are that should be taken into account (Twitter needs to take a deep breath, by the way).

Thank you to Joseph for joining the podcast to fill in for Mark. If you liked his performance off the bench this week, check out rapidsrepublic.com and @RapidsRepublic on Twitter.

Matt Pollard is the Managing Editor of Last Word on Soccer and an engineer by day. A Colorado Convert, he started covering the Colorado Rapids as a credentialed member of the press in 2016, though he’s watched MLS since ’96. When he’s not watching or writing about soccer, he’s being an outdoorsman (mostly skiing and hiking) in this beautiful state or trying a new beer. For some reason, he thought that starting a podcast with Mark was a good idea and he can’t figure out how to stop this madness. He also hosts Last Word SC Radio.

Mark Goodman, the artist formally known as Rapids Rabbi, moved to Colorado in 2011. Shortly thereafter he went to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, saw Lee Nguyen dribble a ball with the silky smoothness of liquid chocolate cascading into a Bar Mitzvah fountain, and promptly fell head over heels in love with domestic soccer. When not watching MLS or coaching U8 soccer, he’s generally studying either Talmud or medieval biblical exegesis. Which explains why he watches so much MLS, probably. He writes about the Rapids for Around MLS and covers the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL for Last Word on Soccer. He also writes for American Soccer Analysis.
