The Japanese government has announced a state of emergency in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoko, and Hyogo lasting from April 25 to May 11. This is set to have a huge impact on Japanese professional wrestling as fans are not allowed at events in these regions meaning shows have either been cancelled or will be run without fans. Here’s a look at all the companies currently affected by this change.
Stardom
Stardom has announced the cancellation of four shows and two meet and greets including the final of the Cinderella Tournament on April 30. April 25 in Osaka, and the May 8 & 9 Golden Week shows in Osaka have also been cancelled. Currently they’re discussing when or how to hold the Cinderella finals.
Pro Wrestling NOAH
NOAH’s Korakuen Hall event on May 2 will now be an empty arena show streamed live on Wrestle Universe, the May 3 Korakuen Hall show has been cancelled
Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling/DDT/Ganbare
GanPro events on May 1 and May 8 have been cancelled. TJPW’s event on May 9 was postponed. All other shows in the affected regions will stream live with no audience.
All Japan Pro Wrestling
AJPW’s Champion Carnival shows a Korakuen Hall will take place with no fans. This applies to the April 25 and 29 shows as well as the final on May 3.
FREEDOMS
FREEDOMS has cancelled a Korakuen Hall show scheduled for May 2
GAEAISM
There is no official word yet on what will happen to the GAEAISM show but as it was scheduled to take place in Tokyo on April 29 it will either need to be postponed or streamed with no fans
Big Japan Wrestling
A BJW show scheduled for April 26 at Korakuen Hall has been cancelled
All other companies have yet to announce their plans or are unaffected by this change. We will update this article as new information becomes available.
