At Game Changer Wrestling (GCW)‘s Planet Death event on Saturday, Alex Colon defeated Conor Claxton to become the inaugural GCW Ultraviolent Champion, marking GCW’s first new title since it rebranded to GCW in 2015. It comes one night after Nick Gage made his GCW in-ring return after nine months off due to serious injury and reclaimed the GCW World Championship from Rickey Shane Page. The Championship is the cherry on top of a strong two-year run for Alex Colon in GCW, where he won back-to-back Tournament of Survival events in 2019 and 2020 and was a finalist at the 2019 Nick Gage Invitational.

The GCW Ultraviolent Championship seemingly replaces the previous GCW/JCW Extreme Championship, first won by Bandido Jr. (now WWE referee Eddie Orengo) in 2013, and held by the likes of Steve Scott, Pinkie Sanchez, Smiley, Tony Deppen, and PCO. The title was quietly retired in December of 2018 following PCO’s departure to Ring of Honor. It appears that this new title will only be defended in deathmatches, and that definitely caught the ear of GCW World Champion Nick Gage, who was on commentary during the Planet Death event, who has his eyes on adding twin gold in GCW.
