New PROGRESS World Champion Crowned on Sunday

After 288 days, the reign of “The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne has ended in PROGRESS Wrestling, as the former World champion was defeated by Travis Banks at Sunday’s PROGRESS Chapter 55: Chase The Sun event, when Banks cashed in his Super Strong Style 16 title shot.

Although Pete Dunne has lost his World Championship belt in PROGRESS, he still holds three other titles – WWE United Kingdom Championship, ATTACK! 24/7 Championship (from Wales), and Destiny World Wrestling (DWW) Championship (from Toronto, Canada).

Although he’s held the top titles in IPW New Zealand and Lucha Forever (UK), this marks Travis Banks’ first major World title of his 8-year career, that has seen him become a major indie star over the past year alongside CKK (Chris Brooks & Kid Lykos) as well as in singles action. He’s become a top player in PROGRESS, Revolution Pro Wrestling (RPW) and WCPW in the past year, as well as appearances with Ring of Honor and for WWE during the PROGRESS Showcase at this year’s WrestleMania Axxess.
