Preview: AEW Dynamite (9/16/20)

dynamite

It’s a big night for AEW as Dynamite returns to its Wednesday night timeslot. Best Friends and Santana and Ortiz will look to finally settle their blood feud with a street fight, MJF and Hangman Page will be in action for the first time since All Out, FTR will take on Jurassic Express in a match that could earn the Express a future tag team title shot, Thunder Rosa will defend the NWA Women’s title, and much more.

Chris Jericho and Jake Hager vs Private Party

After the bold declaration of Chris Jericho last week stating that he and Jake Hager would be coming for the tag team titles, the duo will have a chance to prove themselves against Private Party, a team that did compete for the titles not long ago. Newly under the mentorship of Matt Hardy, who has become an enemy of the Inner Circle due to his feud with Sammy Guevara, Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen are looking to get back into the championship picture by stringing some wins together. But as always, they’ll have to watch their back when the Inner Circle is around as the numbers advantage could certainly play into things here.

Jurassic Express vs FTR

The rules of this match are simple. After last week’s events, FTR issued a challenge. If Jurassic Express can defeat them in non-title action, then maybe, just maybe, Cash and Dax will give them a title match at a later date. For Jurassic Express, this is a big deal as the duo of Luchasuarus and Jungle Boy have been sitting in and around the tag title picture for some time. This would be a huge win and one that would allow one of AEW’s top and most favorite tag teams to continue to take steps forward in the division.

Kip Sabian and Miro

After Miro made his shocking debut last week as Kip Sabian’s best man, the two Twitch friends will have some more words for the AEW fans this week. Miro already cut his post-WWE promo, so what might he have to add along with Sabian? You’ll have to watch and find out.

MJF in Action

Ever since his loss at All Out, MJF has done a lot of blaming other people like Jon Moxley for cheating or Wardlow not doing his job well. But the MJF2020 campaign, which since fired all of its staffers, is still trekking along. MJF hasn’t given up his pursuit of the world championship, even if he does have to wait in line. He’ll be in action for the first time since All Out, this Wednesday on Dynamite.

Jon Moxley

The champ will be at Dynamite on Wednesday. Last week, Jon Moxley spoke about his reign and how he’s been unstoppable. But with Lance Archer coming for him quickly, what might the champ have in store for his appearance Wednesday night? You’ll have to watch and find out.

Frankie Kazarian vs Hangman Page

It’s been a rough few weeks for Hangman Page. He went from losing his best friends, to losing his tag team title, to losing his tag team partner, all in one fell swoop. And now he’s somewhat lost in what comes next. Perhaps it will be a singles path as Page is set to face Frankie Kazarian on Wednesday. Page was in the singles picture when AEW first started and even had his chance at the world title. He’ll have a long way to go if he wants to work back to that point but for Page, whatever comes next, starts this week.

Thunder Rosa vs Ivelisse

For the first time on AEW TV, the NWA women’s championship will be defended. This is a great showcase for Thunder Rosa, following her match with Hikaru Shida. Rosa is an exciting wrestler and certainly someone who has already brought a sense of enthusiasm to AEW’s women’s division without having even been signed. Another yet to be signed wrestler will be her opponent. Ivelisse is fresh off of winning the women’s tag team tournament with partner, Diamante. This is a great opportunity for her to make an impact and get closer to a contract with AEW.

Best Friends vs Santana and Ortiz

When you mess with Sue, you better bet things are going to escalate. Best Friends and Santana and Ortiz started feuding months ago as part of the Inner Circle’s ongoing battle with Orange Cassidy. Things turned personal however, when Santana and Ortiz vandalized Trent’s mom’s van. Then the duo began insulting Sue and Trent and Chuck Taylor had enough. All the animosity between the two teams is about to boil over in this street fight. Expect blood. Expect violence. And expect Best Friends to do everything in their power to get revenge for what Santana and Ortiz have done regarding Sue. This will definitely be a match not to be missed.

Lance Archer Interview

Last week on Dynamite, Jake Roberts and Lance Archer cut a promo about his #1 contendership. This week, the duo will have a chance to expand on that as Archer will have an exclusive interview. What more will the Murderhawk Monster have to say? You’ll have to watch and find out.
