Chris Ridgeway Added To Wrestle Carnival Team

Wrestle Carnival, the newest wrestling promotion out of the UK, has announced the addition of ‘Smashmouth’ Chris Ridgeway, not only to its roster, but also to its behind the scenes team. As well as offering his talents as a wrestler, Ridgeway will be working on show days as both an event producer and as part of the creative team.

The hard-hitting Ridgeway joins Wrestle Carnival founder Gary Ward, with Ward having previously been part of the management team at Wrestle Gate Pro. As part of his work there, Ward sought to combine both the British style and the puroresu style of wrestling, which was achieved by bringing in Japanese stars such as Yuu, Joe Doering, who was part of the company’s Emerald Grand Prix, and Shuji Ishikawa. Of course, Wrestle Gate gained notable recognition in May 2019 when they brought over ‘Hangman’ Adam Page to face PAC, a week before their bout at All Elite Wrestling‘s (AEW) first Double or Nothing was set to take place.

Ward had announced Wrestle Carnival’s creation back in June, with Ridgeway being the first addition to the brand announced. On his personal Twitter account, the former Pro Wrestling NOAH star had the following to say on his appointment:

“I want the absolute best and I will recruit the absolute best. The gears are in motion already. Excited to take on a creative role, which is something I feel I can excel in. BUT.. stay tuned for a really f***in cool announcement…”

Having Chris Ridgeway working as part of the creative team is no doubt going to make for some very interesting booking decisions once the Wrestle Carnival shows begin. A second tweet had Ridgeway state that he wishes to mix the next generation of wrestlers with the more established batch of talent, something that Ward agrees with highly, judging from his time spent at Wrestle Gate Pro.
