Rusev Thanks WWE Talent Relations Office, Twitter Explodes

The past two hours on Twitter have been a barrage of chatter around WWE’s Bulgarian Brute following a tweet from Rusev around 5pm EST today.

The TR in this tweet stands for the Talent Relations department of WWE’s front office, as in the section that deals with contracts, demands, hiring – and firing – of WWE Superstars. Normally this tweet would pass unnoticed, if not for the allegations put forth from Sportskeeda’s Billi Bhatti on their Dirty Sheets Podcast the other day that they had been told that both Rusev and his real life wife Lana had asked for their release from the WWE (which was most likely fueled from a report two days early by the 434).

When asked on Twitter if the reports were true, Lana was quick to respond that it was fake news.

Which is why the timing of this tweet suddenly caused half the wrestling Twitterverse to burst out in laughter at would seemed like known Twitter troll Rusev’s greatest masterpiece yet, while the one quarter salivated at the thought of Ronan The Bulgarian in NJPW or Ring of Honor, and the last quarter hyperventilating through the meme holes.

SO WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS?

Well, there are only three real options of what this tweet could mean.

#1. Maybe had a completely unrelated meeting with TR Office and the timing is just making everyone paranoid.

As mentioned before, the Talent Relations department also handles a lot of other things involving the Superstars. Such as setting up commercials, merchandising, film roles, etc. It could have been an entirely different reason he was there and he’s just using the timing as a joke.

#2. He really, really, really got his release.

Which, if you were in that first quarter fan base who was just waiting for the mishandled talent to get away so that he could become a stiff bigman in Japan or a wrecking machine on the North American indies, then you got your wish. Rusev has a lot more indie fan supporters than Ryback or Jack Swagger does, so he would become an immediate indie darling for sure. Even if he was Ruzicka the Bulgarian Bruiser. Buuuuut if you were that second quarter, you better start digging into your meme folder. There’s going to be a lot of sad emoji’s on Twitter tonight.

Ronan The Bulgarian and Red Lanya. Coming soon to CZW.

#3. YOU GOT SWERVED

Rusev is a well known troll and humorist (completely in character of course), subtlety agreeing with rumours of injuries, divorces or lack of pushes before – and he’s even poked fun at the son of his boss nearly dying in a helicopter accident.

This could just be a very intentionally placed tweet to rile up the people that continue to claim kayfabe died in a New York courtroom that what he did was sports-entertainment and not professional wrestling like the world had previously thought. He is normally 100% committed to bit in his tweets and even things that Miroslav Barnyashev may like, it’s still delivered in a way that is handsomely Rusevian.

There’s a very real, and probably more likely, reality that it’s just Rusev sarcastically poking the bear that people could be so stupid to believe in dirt sheet reports and immediately cry Chicken Little and act like doves when they see a small child entering the town square. Rusev is that kind of a guy on Twitter.

#4. The Secret Fourth Reason

Okay, this one is entirely not going to happen, but would be AWESOME if it did. What if Rusev is setting an actual angle where they use real life in the scenario. Rusev plays along and in a few days, WWE “officially” announces that Rusev has asked and been granted his release. He disappears for a few months. They’ve got partnerships with EVOLVE, PROGRESS, ICW…they could loan him out for a few “indie appearances by” to sell the release. Then suddenly one night in the fall, during a Randy Orton match, Rusev comes out from the ring and decimates Orton in the ring. And keeps doing it week after week. Finally, Orton convinces management to re-sign Rusev so he can make this beating legal. And Rusev emerges the Legend Killer Killer, the Great Snake Hunter, the Next Great Threat. And hopefully finally become the potential that so many fans see in him right now.

But nah. That’ll never happen.

Fire up the meme folders!
