Preview: WWE NXT (7/15/20)

Io Shirai vs. Tegan Nox

WWE NXT returns following a highly successful Great American Bash event which saw the NXT Championship change hands (congrats, Keith Lee).  This week, NXT returns to a new normal and features what might just be a show-stealing women’s main event.  A new era of NXT begins with Keith Lee replacing Adam Cole and joining Io Shirai at the top of the mountain.  Let’s dive in and take a look at what the black and yellow brand has in store!

Damian Priest vs Cameron Grimes

Damian Priest has been embroiled in a feud with Cameron Grimes over the past month.  Previously, both men had feuded with (and eventually lost) to Finn Balor, which is kind of how this all started.  Both men had a solid match on NXT a few weeks ago.  Grimes managed to take advantage of an injured, far from 100% version of Priest and which allowed him to inevitably secure the win.  Now, however, it is an absolute certainty that the big man will be looking for revenge.  This crazy, cowboy adversary is a thorn in the side of Priest and he wants it gone.  Will he manage to successfully secure a win this week? Tune in to find out.

NXT Women’s Championship: Io Shirai (C) vs Tegan Nox

The main event of the evening sees Io Shirai defend her NXT Women’s Championship against the Girl with the Shiniest Wizard, Tegan Nox.  If there is anybody on the NXT roster right now capable of taking it to the seemingly unstoppable Joshi Judas, it is Tegan Nox.  Tegan has been having something of a breakout year.  Her recent tag team match (with partner, Shotzi Blackheart) against Women’s Tag Team champions, Bayley and Sasha Banks, have perfectly demonstrated the Welsh woman’s talent to a larger audience.  Here, she gets to prove herself against a woman widely considered the greatest in the game today, male or female.  Can Tegan cause an upset and steal the NXT Women’s Championship against all odds? Tune into WWE NXT on USA Network this Wednesday at 8/7c to find out.
