This week’s episode of NXT UK saw two huge matches involving the Gallus trio as a TakeOver-quality match was announced for next week’s episode.

In the final two matches of the evening, all three members of Gallus were in action, firstly in the form of Joe Coffey tangling with Amir Jordan. ‘The Iron God’ barraged through Amir in this contest, downing him with both a belly to belly suplex and a wheelbarrow facebuster. Even though he built up some momentum and dove onto the former Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) World Heavyweight and Zero-G Champion, Jordan still found himself defeated as Coffey struck him with the All The Best For The Bells discus lariat. Post-match, Joe called out Ilja Dragunov, still livid that the Russian star cost him the NXT UK Championship at TakeOver: Blackpool II. With the man who lives by the motto of Unbesiegbar failing to appear, it led us into the main event for the evening.

The current NXT UK Tag Team Champions had a tough non-title battle this week, as Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch took the tight to champs Mark Coffey and Wolfgang. Throughout the match, both teams kept the advantage in their ballpark for a chunk of time, with ‘The Regulator’ flying onto Lorcan at one point in the match. How Oney’s ribs weren’t broken from having 250 lbs of Scottish meat flying at him is beyond this writer’s mind. A missed attempt at a moonsault from Wolfie didn’t seem to matter too much, as the Gallus boys remained on top, planting Danny Burch with their powerslam/pouncing enzuigiri combination for the win.
As if two victories out of a possible two wasn’t enough, the Glaswegian firm further established their dominance by executing a three on one beatdown on Ilja Dragunov after the bell. It was announced after the show went off the air that Joe Coffey will face Ilja in singles action next week. A TakeOver-quality match on one of the weekly episodes – what other reason do you need to watch next week’s episode of NXT UK?

After a few weeks of vignettes, former Pro Wrestling: EVE Tag Team Champion Aoife Valkyrie made her long-awaited NXT UK debut as she battled French star Amale. The fans were clearly eager to see the Irish standout in action, as they showed their support for the ABBA-loving Woke Queen, who very nearly had the match on a few occasions early into the contest. After some nefarious tactics used by Amale, Valkyrie bounced back into things, kicking the French star in the head twice in a row. A flying Axe Kick off the top rope, known on the independent circuit as The Guillotine, marked it 1-0 for Aoife Valkyrie in an NXT UK ring.

As he hopes to challenge WALTER for the NXT UK Championship at a later date, Dave Mastiff was in singles action this week against NXT UK original Saxon Huxley, a man who isn’t seen in WWE too much these days. Seeing as ‘The Muscle Cat’ was up against ‘The Bomber’, we can all but confirm that will continue to be the case. While he did have some offence in the early goings of the bout, Saxon was decimated for the most part, being flattened with a running senton followed up with a huge powerslam. An Into The Void cannonball marked another loss for Saxon Huxley, to the shock of no-one really.
What Else?
In addition to all of this, Toni Storm and Kay Lee Ray signed the contract for their NXT UK Women’s Championship I Quit Match, Alexander Wolfe confronted Travis Banks backstage as he was talking about how he failed to win the NXT Cruiserweight Championship at Worlds Collide, with ‘The Kiwi Buzzsaw’ claiming that Wolfe has been riding on WALTER’s coattails, The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) made a mockery out of NXT UK general manager Johnny Saint and his assistant Sid Scala while offering praise to NXT general manager William Regal, and Joseph Conners revealed that he would be squaring off with Tyler Bate next week.
