The artist formerly known as ASUKA has been announced for EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch under the new moniker of Veny. Asuka considers herself a “genderless” wrestler and thus has wrestled for various Joshi promotions but now has her home in Dramatic Dream Team (DDTPro).
At just 21 years old Veny is guaranteed to be a star in professional wrestling. Despite having just five years of experience she has managed to stand out as one of the best performers in DDT and the Joshi scene. Veny’s first home was Pro Wrestling WAVE. She would remain with WAVE until it’s first phase ended in 2018. She was one of the last Regina Di WAVE champions of this first phase defeating Takumi Iroha for the title in a fantastic match. In 2018 we would also see Veny debut for Wrestle-1 where she would briefly form a popular tag team with Hana Kimura. This was also the year that DDT fans got their first taste of ASUKA.
In 2019 Veny departed WAVE and set off on a career as a freelancer. It was during this time that she would have the best run of her career. She became a regular feature for SEAdLINNNG where she would have some fantastic matches including one against Nanae Takahashi in a losing effort for the Beyond The Sea championship. Also of note was her run in Zero One’s Fire Festival (similar to the G1 Climax) where she would go winless until the final day when she defeated Masato Tanaka.
It is in DDT where Veny has gained the most attention though. Not only is she a member of the popular ALL OUT faction she had one of the most innovative matches of 2019 when she challenged Akito for the Extreme Championships in an IPPON Fluorescent Lighttube Deathmatch. The catch here was that there was ONE single light tube and whoever broke it would be the loser.
No matter where she’s gone Veny has succeeded. Her mix of the Joshi strong style with an athleticism most could only envy and a whole lot of charisma makes her an instant attraction wherever she goes. We have no doubt that she will make an impression over Mania weekend and EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch just got itself a big star.
