AEW Dynamite makes its way back into the Lone Star state, stopping back at the H.E.B Center in Austin, TX!
This week will see the a battle of the pirates with Jon Moxley in action against newly-blinded Santana, a big women’s championship rematch from October 2nd, and the continuation of the cowboy chronicles with Adam Page. With so much left in the tank as we continue driving on the road to Revolution, there is bound to be a lot in store for the Austin crowd.
Without further ado, let’s jump right into what we’ll see this week on AEW Dynamite!
MJF vs Jungle Boy
Heading into Revolution with Cody set in his sights, MJF has at least one more wrestler to worry about until then.
Squaring off this week with Jungle Boy, MJF will have to put the thoughts of lashing his enemy to the back of his mind if he doesn’t want to take a loss to the scrappy youngster. But as always, don’t expect the “heel of heels” to come alone. Wardlow will be right by his side, his short man-bun ponytail trailing behind.
Jungle Boy has had a lot of success recently (albeit mainly on Dark) with Marko Stunt and Luchasaurus in his corner. But with no option to tag, we will have to see if he can pick up a solo victory for one of the few times in his AEW career. If his match with Jericho is any indication, the kid can hang with the best.
This match will likely go MJF’s way, even if Wardlow has to make sure of it. But if Cody or one of his Elite buddies evens the odds and make their presence felt, this will be a lot more even playing field.
After all, MJF is a lot less intimidating in the ring without a belt. Jungle Boy just can’t afford to let Wardlow make up the difference.
Jon Moxley vs Santana
Jon Moxley was successful in his first hunt for Inner Circle members last week, but Ortiz didn’t even get the worst of it. Whilst he did lose to Moxley in the ring, what happened after is what makes this contest all the more interesting.
After winning, Moxley decided to take things one step further after an attempted ambush on him. He took the key to the Ford GT he swindled from Le Champion and stabbed it directly into the eye of Santana. The wrestling equivalent of Hammurabi’s code, one could say.
Santana will, of course, be looking for revenge and Moxley will be looking to deliver another victory to a member of Jericho’s clique. Slowly working his way to the top of that group, he may start taking one eye at a time until he can try to claim the gold.
This war is far from over, and there are likely plenty of more battles left along the path to Revolution. The fact that Santana is getting back after Moxley a week after he took his eye leads to some obvious speculation of this being a set up for an ambush. If this does make it through without a DQ finish, then expect Moxley to be celebrating with his hand raised.
Otherwise, he may have to raise his arm for x-rays after Inner Circle gets their revenge. And this time, it won’t be for an infection.
Dustin Rhodes vs Sammy Guevara
With the Inner Circle having their hands full with Moxley, we haven’t seen much of Sammy Guevara. That will change this week, and Guevara will get the advantage over Santana of not taking on the purveyor of unscripted violence. Instead, he will be squaring off with none other than Dustin Rhodes.
Don’t take that as an automatic win in the column for Sammy, but it definitely helps nudge it that direction. The Natural will be looking to get a stronger foothold in the singles division by taking out one of the top stables’ top members. That certainly would make a bold statement, either for Dustin or against the Inner Circle depending on which side you fall on.
As a result of this, we can expect a heated matchup between these two contrasting styles. One with youth and athleticism at their disposal, another with veteran presence and experience in a very capable older physique. Where this one ends up is anyone’s guess at this point.
Because of that, this match will have a giant question mark heading into the night. Do we see any new storylines develop? Or perhaps Mr. Moxley makes a surprise appearance and creates a new pirate. We will see where the dust settles on Wednesday night.
Riho vs Nyla Rose

With Riho holding AEW gold without defending it, she has a stiff test this week in a rematch with Nyla Rose. Nyla has been tearing through the rest of the division, the only problem she hasn’t been able to solve is Riho.
On the inaugural crowning of AEW’s first women’s champion, it was Riho who had her hand raised and name etched in AEW’s record books for good. With Nyla’s recent mean streak, it is safe to say October 2nd is fresh in her mind even all this time later. And that is not a good sign for Riho.
However, don’t count her as an underdog by any means. She is champion for a reason, and despite not being on television much since winning she clearly made her way to the top not by accident but by design. Ending her reign in that spot is certainly not in her thoughts.
In this rematch, the win and loss records mean nothing. All that matters now is who has their hand raised on Wednesday night.
SCU vs Hangman Page & Kenny Omega
With Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page capturing the AEW Tag Team titles from them a couple of weeks ago on the Jericho cruise, it is finally time for SCU to get a rematch. Perhaps being back on land can help them land back their titles.
And with all the turmoil and tumultuous heat surrounding the champions, this might just be the first failed defense in the belts’ short history. Hangman continues to run things as a lone wolf, even costing Omega and the Young Bucks a chance at victory in their 8-man tag match last week by refusing to tag out to the Jackson brothers. This story is clearly on a collision course, it is just a matter of finding where the wreck occurs.
As for SCU, they have some potential issues of their own to worry about. With Christopher Daniels being left alone by the members of the Dark Order, speculation has once again begun on where the artist formerly known as the Fallen Angel’s loyalties lie. Is he perhaps the exalted one that we have all heard instructing the mysterious cult?
The real purpose of this match is less about the rematch and more about the storylines beneath the surface here. But don’t expect that to change the quality of the match itself. If their first tilt was any indication, we are in for a treat.
As for the competitors itself, they are the ones who will decide their own fate. Loyalty will be the story of the night to keep an eye on. And whomever possesses more of that key attribute will likely also walk out with possession of two AEW title belts.
Make sure you keep your eyes on TNT this week, as the drama will be heightened beyond just for sake of the network’s catchphrase.
