SmackDown Highlights – Otis Has A Career Night (12/20/19)

Smackdown

It’s December. That automatically means that WWE television is usually at its worst until the new year comes around. And despite that nature that continues every year, WWE did develop the next steps in their world championship picture. Here’s the bleak highlights.

Daniel Bryan, The Miz, And Baron Corbin Take Claims For Universal Championship Opportunity

Friday Night SmackDown kicked off with the fresh-looking Daniel Bryan discussing his new look and how he is happy to have got rid of the “Daniel Bryan brand”. The Miz came out afterward to not only thank Daniel but inform him that in no way is he done with “The Fiend“. Unfortunately for the Brooklyn crowd, Baron Corbin had all the credentials to interrupt and toss his name into the hat of those who should contend for the Universal Championship. He was not done, however, as he called Bryan and Miz terrible fathers. this was followed by Bryan and Miz getting ready to fight Corbin, but Dolph Ziggler came from behind. Teddy Long must’ve loved this, as a tag team match was made for the main event.

Baron Corbin & Dolph Ziggler vs Daniel Bryan & The Miz

A television tag team match is what this was. But The Miz and Daniel Bryan worked great as a team. This one saw a spectacular finish for Bryan and Miz as Miz locked on the Figure Four to Ziggler as Corbin attempted to break it up, Bryan came flying in with a Running Knee to secure the win as Ziggler would tap. After the match, it was announced that next week will see Corbin, Bryan, and Miz compete in a triple threat match to decide the Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble. There was no Roman Reigns to be seen.

SmackDown MVP: Otis

Who would have thought that the second to last SmackDown episode’s MVP would be Otis? No one. But here we are and one half of Heavy Machinery had a career day for himself. Otis and Tucker were set for the annual “Miracle on 34th Street Fight” but before their match, Mandy Rose showed up. She told Otis that she had gotten him for Secret Santa. Her gift for him was a ham. But not just a ham, but also a kiss on the cheek. After this was the match, where Otis entered another level after The Revival destroyed his ham. What followed was the use of legos and a caterpiller by Otis. Heavy Machinery would get the win but Otis was still not done on the night. He brought the ham up to Mandy to apologize. This would lead to a hug, but his sweat got all over her dress. Either way, it was the night to remember for Otis.

Yeah, it was a tough night. The final SmackDown of 2019 and the decade will be live next week with Bray Wyatt learning who his next victim may be.
